I hope this is the right place to ask this.

We had been saving up to go back to WDW in 2013, but a pal announced her Disney wedding will be date removed so we'd like to go. Issue - at this time we can't come close to affording where we really want to stay.

It just occurred to me that maybe we could rent DVC. The other options are to stay at Pop or try the Swolphin (we don't have a mod we want to stay at).

?s-
1. Do dates that are booked ever reopen due to cancellations?
2. Can you cancel after you book points? If FD comes out for our dates, Pop would be a really great deal we might not be able to refuse.
3. We're only looking at details removed. Is such a short trip not worth the time and trouble of renting points?
4. What would you do!?

If you rent, the specifics to cancelling, changing, etc, is up to the member you deal with it. It is a private transaction very different than dealing with Disney which has easy cancellation policies.

Most members will not allow you to cancel and money will have to be paid in advance of the trip.

If you are talking about date your choices are going to very limited. That is a very popular time for members to go and many are on the waitlist hoping to get a room.

Cancellations do occur but almost all with be taken by the waitlist.

If you are concerned about cancelling, I would not rent points.

Thanks so much. This is the honest response I needed to hear. I think we'll have to pass and resort removed will continue to be a dream :sad1:

book something you can afford, and then look for codes and discount offerings at it gets closer.

You can certainly look into renting, but go with an educated mind to the limitations, such as cancelling.

DVC bookings are best for those that can plan 11 to 7 months out with very little chance of needing to cancel.
