Possible fake Mickey Unlimited Hat from ebay

Hey y'all, I recently went on ebay looking for a cheap hat rather than buying something super expensive.

Well, I found a Mickey Unlimited Hat from the 90's that was said to be new and was perfect because it was purple and yellow(GEAUX LSU!)...

Well when I received it, it seemed to be pretty poorly made product, and from what I remember as a kid the Disney Hats were pretty well made. So I was wondering if anyone on here has experienced fake Disney hats being sold on ebay, or has a 90's Mickey Unlimited hat they bought to compare it to.

Some of the problems are:
The stitching isn't up to par with similar authentic hats(frayed and loose),
there is discoloring on the front of the hat, which doesn't match the material of the rest of the hat.
The hat also doesn't fit like any other snapback hat I've owned before. It bunches up in the front and won't pull down properly.

I also grabbed the pictures from the listing...

Thanks for any help y'all can give!

It looks new to me. I don't understand, you said you were looking for cheap hat. If you're not satisfied, contact the seller and return it.

Yes, cheap because you can often get well made stuff for cheap on Ebay. This is cheap, as in I believe it is a knock-off hat. The seller claimed it was an authentic Mickey Unlimited hat, but it appears to not be. Now I'm going off of what I remember from the hats I owned as a kid so I wanted to ask people here. The hats I had didn't have frayed and loose stitching, different colored hat panels(front is darker and discolored), the brim is super flimsy(compared to other hats I currently own).

I thought somebody on here might have an old Mickey Unlimited hat, or have a better memory of their quality than I do.

My issue isn't whether or not it's new, but whether or not it's authentic.

This seller says no refunds, but I know I'm protected by paypal, so before I made a claim to them I wanted to see what information I could gather. I could be wrong and it could be real, so I don't want to cause a big stink if not.

How does your hat compare to the eBay pictures? Is the tag identical? Is it possible this was an irregular purchased at tge Character Warehouse?

That's a possibility I wouldn't have thought about, the tag on mine is falling off a bit because of the loose stitching as well. I honestly wouldn't even bother if it actually fit correctly. Both my wife and I tried it on and it just bunches up on both of us and wrinkles. I don't know if I'm describing it well, but it makes us both look like we're trying to squeeze a kids sized hat on adult sized heads, haha. And our heads are completely different sizes.

I do remember that tag and that brand. It was never sold in the parks or disneystores. But, it was a licensed Disney Consumer Products brand.

I am trying to remember where I would see that brand sold. I am guessing Walmarts/Kmarts.

The discoloration and loose stitching could be caused by the age of the hat, too. You said it was from the 90's - well, 1990 was 24 years ago :)

Wow time flies doesn't it ? We have a ton of hats from WDW going back to the 1980's. I have a few thoughts here. As a PP mentioned Mickey Unlimited brand is a licensed through the company but sold in retail stores. You can find them in Wal-Marts all around WDW area.

Did the ad say it was from the 1990's or did you just find it, remember something you had, and assumed it was ? I don't think the hat is that old. Not saying it's brand new, just not that old. Discoloration happens depending on how stored, etc.

You said it was an adult hat but the tag clearly says " one size fits all ". So anyone's guess if adult or child.
Maybe the seller assumed.

From the back of the hat ( where you move it to match the holes to size it ) our older hats aren't made like that. The majority of them have like a metal slider to adjust.

What did you pay for the hat ? If it wasn't much I would stick it on the dog, if you have one, and take fun pictures ;), yeah I'm silly that way. Seriously though you should contact the seller if you really don't want to keep it.

and Welcome to the Dis !
