possible change of plans to Easter trip 2017

So after much discussion with the family, it seems that the threat of a possible hurricane along with the large amounts of rain in September, we may be pushing the trip to Easter time 2017. The thought is if we stick with our original plan of going at the end of Sept 2016, the rain will make our trip into WDW and little more unpleasant just because I've been reading that it pretty much rains everyday for about an hour. Then when we board the ship following our WDW trip, they're worried about the threat of hurricane since it's peak hurricane time and even if the ship goes around, the winds and the ocean will be pretty rough and they're worried about getting sea sick which will pretty much ruin their cruise.

We were thinking about Thanksgiving time too but the same concerns are there so now we're thinking maybe April 2017 since that's outside of the hurricane season and there doesn't seem to be too much rain during this time of year in FL.

So our plan would be to fly out of SoCal on Easter and then spend 5 days at the park. Saturday would be our travel day from WDW to Port Canaveral and then we'll cruise for the week and return home the following Saturday.

So now my question is, how are the crowds at WDW the week following Easter? It seems that from a crowd estimator website that I found at undercover tourist.com, it's saying that it's supposed to be really busy during this time. Is this correct? I would have thought most kids only get 1 week off for spring break and that would have been the week leading up to Easter with them going back to school after Easter. If you have first hand experience with being there during the week immediately following Easter, I'd like to hear your feedback.

Sorry for the long post but we want to get this right so we can have a positive and memorable experience rather than memorable experience because of some negative issues such as crazy rain or hurricane weather. I guess we can deal with the parks being crowded but hurricane issues and heavy rain makes the trip more cumbersome.

Easter is a very busy time at WDW. Also a very popular time for cruising, so I suggest you make your plans and book before fares increase considerably.

Schools throughout the U.S. have varying vacation schedules in the spring. Some have 1 week before Easter, some have 1 week after Easter, I've even heard of some (maybe private?) with a 2-week break. Other schools don't tie their vacation to Easter at all -- schools were I live get vacation the 3rd week of April every year, regardless of when Easter falls but in 2017 it does coincide with the week following Easter. So, yeah, there can be a lot of school kids on vacation at that time.

In my experience when we've gone to WDW in the fall, while it may have rained every day -- it's a quick (possibly heavy) shower. 15 minutes later the sun is shining again. So you duck inside a store or restaurant, maybe even a ride, and may not even know it was raining until you come out and see a few puddles drying.

Enjoy your vacation!

Good to know since we only know our kids' school schedule. We have year round so we have the week before Easter and the week following Easter. Our plan is to take the week following Easter and go into the parks and then follow that up with the cruise. We're not too concerned if the ship is completely booked but we are hoping to "finalize" our plans soon so we can book the cruise soon. So I guess it is true that the parks are super crowded during the Easter time. Well at least it's not super hot and super humid and rainy at the parks during this time. :)
