Mulling the idea of going to DL in in 2025 for Disneyland 70/D23/LA. Just curious when/how long the Disneyland 70 will start/how long to visit Disneyland. I know D23 will be a 3 day experience. Have previously been to WDW, Shanghai Disney, HK Disney and most recently Paris Disney (WOW...so intense and definitely need to go back. 1 day going to both parks, do not advise. too much to see/do and did not get to see night shows :( ). Any advice is appreciated

As for the 70th, it could last for at least a year. We were fortunate to celebrate the 60th twice, when we went in Sept 2015 and again in Aug 2016 (as far as I remember it was ending that summer).

that is what i initially thought, but when they had d23 last year and this year, that is what threw me for a loop
Your initial thought is correct.

Last year was Destination D23, which is smaller, that is held at WDW every other year. That will happen again next year but will be at WDW

D23 is every other year so the next Anaheim one is indeed 2026.

crud, well that answers that. That is disappointing that I won't be able to experience D23 if I go. However, if anyone can advise on how many days to experience DL and when the 70th anniversary will begin and how long it would run, maybe push back to 2026, that would help. I honestly thought Disney 100 would have run longer than it did, so I have no clue

Destination D23 is a smaller event than D23.

The major announcements are saved for the Disney Experiences Showcase held on the Saturday evening at D23.

How many days really depends on what you want to do but at least 3 is a good amount if you want to experience most things without feeling rushed.

The 70th...hard to know for sure but if we look at the 60th, it started May 22, 2015 and ended on September 5, 2016. So there is a chance it will push into 2026 but obviously no guarantee

hmm, so in theory, I can do D23 in 2026 and still get to do DL 70...interesting...plus it gives me a primer for LA 28. I was just in Paris during the Olympics and snuck in a Disney day prior to the start of the Games, so if I can get my LA touristy/Disney stuff out of the way if I'm able to get tickets for 2028, I can "relax" ...in theory

Disneyland 70th merchandise will likely be available for sale tomorrow. They were selling a ton of it at D23.

I was surprised that they didn't mention a 70th bday nighttime celebration at D23. Regardless, I think they will probably start celebrating after the holidays.

I was surprised too. I'm assuming they will have new fireworks and a nighttime parade. They probably wanted to wait to excite people to visit separately from all the exciting new things they announced at D23. Rumor is PTN might make a reappearance. I hope there's a FW show as good as DL Forever was for the 60th!

Someone already mentioned, but the 50th and 60th ran for 2 summers. Also worth noting that they ran the 60th fireworks through Halloween and Christmas - they DID NOT show the Halloween and Christmas fireworks those years. I'm not sure nowadays they would do that because the holidays are so popular, but something to be aware of if possibly visiting for Halloween or Christmas 2025.

To the PP about LA 2028, I heard DL Paris was not very crowded during the games. I'm curious if the same will be true for DL in 2028. July as it stands right now is not the most crowded month anymore for DL. If anyone visited DL during the 1984 LA Olympics, I'm curious what DL was like!

It was odd because they introduced Disneyland's 70th then went straight to nighttime shows. I thought for sure the transition would be the 70th nighttime show. :confused3

The next few months are going to be busy at Disneyland. Obviously Halloween draws a lot of non local visitors. Bayou Country and Tiana's will bring locals who don't have MK, in addition to the Halloween visitors.

I think Disneyland will be crowded before and after the Olympics. I can see Disney capitalizing on "I'm going to Disneyland." with the athletes. I think we'll see lots of calvacades.

This came up before, but there is a decent chance we won't see any reference to the Olympics at Disneyland due to the exclusive licensing to NBC.

Any cavalcades would like be at Universal.

Although the OP might grasp that reference from the context, I'm going to mention that "MK" means "Magic Keys," which is what Disneyland calls annual passes. I have no idea why Disneyland renamed their annual passes, but I'm sure it can be confusing for WDW veterans/Disneyland newbies to see "MK" when it doesn't mean "Magic Kingdom."

True true, I love how they can't even say Olympic win and just "win"

I look forward to the 2028 "Sporty Summer Multi-Country Celebration"
Even if Disney can't promote the Olympics and doesn't have the contractual rights, it's still a massive deal for SoCal to be hosting the summer Olympics. The most recent venue plans don't clearly identify Honda Center or Angel Stadium as venues, but it's still possible. Long Beach will be hosting several events. Surfing has not been decided, but Huntington is in the running.

Lots of people will be in town and I'm sure it will be a big deal for DLR, even if it's just an impact on crowds (higher or lower).

I visited the day before the opening ceremony. Compared to Orlando, wait times were much shorter and they allowed single riders to cut lines on occasion (not a lot of single rider lines...strange)...one thing that really surprised is that the rides were more intense in Paris (Indiana Jones, Big Thunder, ToT and haunted Mansion)...definitely not the comparatively tame rides I've been on in Orlando

One thing that the Olympics do is they will change the name of the venue to drop the corporate name . In Vancouver, they changed GM Place to Canada Hockey Place IIRC. imagine Dodger Stadium changing to California Stadium or something similar for 4 weeks
