Ok - I'm leaving in 10 days and by this time, I'm usually extremely excited and can't wait to go. However, with all the negative posts on here I've been reading lately, I'm now very worried that my trip will be ruined. :guilty: The heat I know to expect. Went in August last year and it was in the mid 90's the whole time. I know it will be crowded, probably even more so than last August. But, am I wasting my money and my only week off of work for the year? All these negative posts are really upsetting me. Anyone have anything positive to say about going in July or anyone just back who can ease my fears a little. Positive posts only please!! :flower:

Don't worry you will have a wonderful time! We went in July last year, July 4th week and are going again in less than a week. I remember reading many negative posts last year regarding crowds, heat etc...but we really didn't find it bad at all and had an awesome vacation!!

Dont let others posts get you down. You know what to expect with the heat and maybe the crowd levels. Just make sure your planning is done and take advantage of the EMH in the mornings but most importantly be at the parks at opening or right after, most people dont get to the parks until between 10-11 am so you should be able to get through several things before that time, also use FP for anything over a 40 min wait. We went during spring break and it was more crowded than I can ever remember seeing it, but we had a great time we did everything and more that we wanted to do and that was because I had my days planned out, we were at the parks at opening and we used FP alot! Your going to have a blast!! Ignore the negativity...

As I just posted on "that other thread".......

When my children were school age (youngest is now 22), we always went in July - at least 10 times.

What I quickly learned was to be at the parks when they opened, leave at noontime, and return later in the day (around 5:00). If we stayed in the parks in the afternoon sun, we were completely drained.

I know this is difficult to do if you're not staying on site, but if at all possible that's the best advise I can give.

If you can't leave the park, do attractions in the afternoon that are indoors so that you're in air conditioning. Take advantage of Fast Pass whenever possible.

Don't push too hard or everyone will be miserable.

We always had a great time and couldn't wait to return - even in July.

Hey, you'll be in the most magical place on earth so it won't matter what anyone else has to say that's negative. It'll be a magial experience regardless!

The first time DH and I went to WDW was in July. We loved it! Neither of us had been since we were young, so we really didn't know that there was a time when the crowds were any smaller! :flower:

Just have a "plan" for the stuff you want to see, and enjoy it! Your vacation will be great--you're at Disney! :goodvibes

Also leaving in 3 days:cool1: !!!!

I try to avoid reading the negativ the posts....(Try really hard!) There isn't muc we can do at this point anyways. We have prepared the best we can by making all our ADR'S, buying neck bands for the heat, pplanning to make the most of the popular attractions the minute we get there at park opening, Avoid all EMH parks, and plan on being in the AC alot during the hot afternoon......Also plan on ALWAYS having a FP or 2 in hand all the time.

Opinions vary greatly, we will have to see when we get there. I know people who would do ANYTHING just to be able to go to WDW, even in July. So I consider myself very lucky to be going to WDW for the 4th time, even in a hot and crowded July.

Have a great trip.....

 It looks like we're arriving on the same day :) We've been once before in July, and yes it was hot and humid, but it was also hot and humid at home in Ma.! I can only echo the suggestions of going early and going back to your resort pool for a few hours as a break. This worked for us. When the kids get too hot we just look for an attraction that involves water, or is inside- there's lots of places to cool off in WDW :flower: Another lifesaver our last trip was PSs ( now ADRs ) at sitdown restaurants- it gave us a chance to get out of the heat for a bit, and having a PS meant we wouldn't have to wait too long to be seated.

Thanks everyone! I knew you could ease my fears and lift my spirits. I am planning of doing what everyone has suggested, arriving early, taking afternoon breaks at the hotel pool, using FP as much as possible. I am very fortunate to be going. With DD starting high school in September, its summer or not at all, so I chose summer. We'll make the most of it. I hope everyone else going this month will have a fabulous time also. :flower:

due to certain job related circumstances we have always traveled to WDW in july. yes you already know it will be crowded and hot but you still will have a fantastic time as we just did. we have just returned from a magical 10 day trip and we followed much advice we had recieved here and used what we already experienced from past trips.

you must must must stay hydrated. i made a mistake of not drinking extra even though i didnt feel thirsty. i learned the hard way.

use fastpass. go as early as you can. for some odd reason it seemed that epcot was less crowded then any of the other parks early. well except for Soarin'. it seemed that everyone who entered Epcot went there first but the rest of the park was very accessable. MK was so very crowded all of the time which made it very hot. the hottest place on disney property when we were there. but we used fastpass wisely and had a fantastic time. AK was great early also and although at times MGM was crowded, we still did everything we wanted to do. our trip covered july 4th which we know is a very busy time.

if you can take that often mentioned afternoon hotel break. it helps to freshen up and recharge the batteries which definitly will help you enjoy the rest of your day.

have fun :Pinkbounc :earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc

Hey! I'm leaving in 11 days! Don't let those negative posts get ya down, it really is bearable if you know what to expect. Crowded? a little. Hot? definitely. Awesome? More than you could ever imagine. Not to mention that the parks are open late in the summer :cool1: I've been five times in the hottest months of the year and I still keep going back. Have a great time! ::MinnieMo

We just got back yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to write any kind of trip report just yet. BUT, you will not be dissapointed going in July. I don't tolerate heat that great, so we took mid day breaks. The crowds were high, but by using fastpasses and hitting all the rides first thing in the morning, we never waiting over 10 minutes to get on a ride. SO and DD were actually the ONLY ones in their TOT photo!

It's all about attitude and preparation. We went this year June 27th - july 5th. Yes, it was crowded, but as with others, with work and school commitments it's the only time we've been able to go.

Be prepared for the crowds, my DD's bring their gameboys (and I got one for myself this year) We bought games we could play with multiple people so we could play against each other when we did stand in line.

Fastpass - need I say more. We rode tons of rides even with the long lines, but using fastpass as much as possible. We even got to ride Soarin via fastpass twice in one day instead of waiting in hour plus lines.

We also found going first thing in the morning to a park that had EMH to night before was great. Definitely hit the MK after they have a 2am EMH, much less crowded. We also did a few evening EMHs and found if you waited until after the first hour of it the crowds started to dwindle a bit.

The parks have longer hours.

The parades and fireworks are every night -- not just some nights.

The pools are warm enough to swim in.

There's no need for sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves (and yes, I've used hats and gloves in December).

We were just down the week of the 4th of July. With the use of fast passes, we were never in line more than 15-20 minutes.

Have Fun!!!!

You will not be disappointed! You've been there before when it's hot, so you know what to expect! The lady that cleans our house took her dh, 4 kids and 2 parents in June, spent TONS of money and they had a terrible time. She said she didn' t know the parks were that big, so spread out from each other and so on. I had given her this website and a couple others to research, but oh well.....Sad thing was she didn't even want to really talk about it, but said they'd never go back. I thought, oh well, that's 6-8 less people to worry about crowding the place! ;) LOL

Have a Great Trip and don't forget to come back and tell us how WONDERFUL it was!!! :sunny:

Please don't worry - you're going to have a wonderful time! We just got back a week ago and it was an awesome trip. I totally agree with what everyone said - get to the parks EARLY and use fastpass when necessary. We never waited for rides longer than 10 minutes and we always did all the major rides by 12. I honestly didn't think the heat was that bad. We drank lots of Crystal light (brought it with us) and used misty fans.
Have a great trip!! :)

All of the negative posts about July were scaring me too, but my neighbor just got back and had a great time. She utilizes these boards and had a plan just like we do so we should be ok.

Have a great trip!!! :wizard:

Did you get a chance to read this thread? What a great attitude. Look at the beautiful pictures from their vacation. How could you not have a wonderful time? It's all about attitude and being prepared. I agree with others mentioning the advantages of going during the summer-longer hours, more shows scheduled, no worrying about coats, sweatshirts, jeans etc. Plan for heat and crowds and you will be fine.

Have a great time!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

We just got home from WDW. We were there over July 4th weekend which is supposed to be one of the busiest times to visit. I was also concerned because we have 3 young children, one of which is Austisic. BUT, we had the best vacation ever!!! Yes it was hot, rained every day at 2pm and there were lots of people everywhere , just be smart. Go to the parks early, plan your fastpasses and bring cheap raingear. Dont for a moment think that it will not be the best time of your life!! It was absolutely fantastic and the kids were too!! :earsgirl: :cool1:

We just got back Thurs. night, and we had a wonderful time. We went thinking that we would not get everything done because it was a short trip, and we took our 1 year old DD. We ended up doing almost everything we wanted (didn't get to do Soarin'; out of fastpasses and standby was 150 min.).

Definitely get to parks at opening; it seems like there's a huge crowd, but once you're through the gates, everyone spreads out. At AK we walked onto Safari, Dinosaur, Triceratops Spin and Primeval Whirl (2x) not to mention did all the trails by 11:30 a.m. We used EMH a.m. at MK and by 12:30 had done at least 10 rides with the longest wait being 20 minutes (Splash).

Get FP when you can, and take midday breaks.

Take ponchos and be ready to use them! :umbrella:

To stay hydrated, and if you've got a freezer or cooler, freeze water bottles and juice boxes overnight and take them with you the next day. They were a life saver. We never bought drinks other than with our meals. :drinking1

If you can, go to the late parades and shows. There are fewer people and it's easier to get a good seat (at 10:20, we were on the curb in front of the castle for 11:00 Spectromagic).

Don't let the negativity get you down! You'll be with Mickey!! What could be better?!?!?! ::MickeyMo
