Well, DH started WW on Monday the 7th and has lost 5 pounds so far. He had a small fender bender this morning (he's fine, thank goodness!!!) and I'm so proud of him because he didn't do any stress eating as a result! His office had a special breakfast today (the bosses and some VPs cook breakfast for the employees) and although he attended the breakfast, he didn't eat anything (I fed him his WW breakfast at home this morning).

And a big miracle! My Mom did yoga today!!!!! I set the timer for 10 minutes, and when it went off, she agreed to go for another five minutes (had only worked the left side of her body so we needed to do the right side to make it even). WOW!!!!!!!! I am so proud of her! She's 60 and a smoker and addicted to candy and cakes! Next week we will do two more 15 minute sessions and the week after we will up it to 20 or 25 minutes, depending on how she feels. I told her that her goal is to complete the entire yoga tape before I go on vacation at the end of May! :)

Yesterday we went to the grocery store and instead of buying a half chocolate chip cake that she LOVES, she bought glazed donuts (which she thinks was a better choice.) ;) Anyway, she is talking about cooking broccoli with dinner now and adding more fruits and veggies to her diet. I am so proud!!!! My parents are moving to a house with a pool soon and she wants to be able to put on a bathing suit and feel good about herself. She also wants to quit smoking. I am really happy that she wants to make these changes for herself!

Just wanted to share. I hope I am not posting too much! I know I can ramble! :)

Have a great day, everyone!!!

That's great! I wish I had that kind of affect on my family but my mom and grandma (whom I live with) like cake, and italian food, that's what we are. It's tradition to eat pasta every sunday.

Anyway. My mom still buys cake and cookies, and sometimes forgets my fruit. I ate a few nutter butters the other day. I was very ashamed but I just couldn't help it. I love cookies!

TigH ramble!?!?! LOL! Are you sure were not twins? Kindred spirits from another dimension? TigH, I love your ramblings. I'm actually quite jealous! Being a rambler myself, I have made a decision to try to cut back. It's not really me, but, I would never get anything done if I were to go on as I would like.
Your posts are always welcome and wonderful and inspiring! Thanks for the good news about your family! What a bonus! Your inspiration obviously extends beyond the WISH. Thank you for keeping us all focused and in good spirits!

Keep the Faith!

Tig - you should be proud! your family is very smart to observe and follow your healthy lead :)

I'm learning lately that I'm more effective in showing others better choices by doing it myself then any amount of talking (whether it's chit-chatting to lecturing my kids)

And that goes for more than modeling healthy behaviors in taking care of our bodies - but our minds and attitudes too!

I'm sure they are sooooooooo impressed with your recent weight loss, increased energy, good moods, etc -- that they're thinking "I want that too!!"

Your so sneaky:smooth:

What better way could there be to show your Mom how much you love her than to actually help her reach her goals!

Tigh, that is great. Congratulations to your whole family.:D

I bet it is nice when everyone is involved in eating healthy and wanting to lose weight. :D

You ramble, no way! Your posts give us the motivation and encouragement that our families will want to participate in our goal to a healthy life. You give us hope that they will come around.

TigH~ that is awesome!!!!!!! My dh is doing WW too...just not as strictly as I am...he wants to lose some weight, but he still snacks...LOL!! :)
But overall, this plan has made us BOTH eat better...no matter gorging on pizza and cinnasticks from Dominos...even though I would love to! LOL!!! And no more pigging out on General Tso's chicken and eggrolls...but it does sound good! LOL!!

I am so glad your family is making such great choices! You are an inspiration to us at WISH and to your family!!! Good for you!

Kamy

My DH is "thinking" about WW, but he's just not into it yet. I know that he is very conscious of the changes I've made/am making, but is still too prone to all his weaknesses. ;)

Hopefully, one day soon.....

Tig, that's great! Speaking as an ex smoker, though, she might want to quit smoking before she tries to lose weight, giving up cigarettes and food at the same time is a bad idea. Trust me, I know.

How great that your husband is so motivated and determined to stick with his WW eating plan. Doesn't surprise me, he has you as an example and inspiration.

Atkins is spreading like wildfire through my family :teeth: So far, me, dh, my brother in MI, my brother in CA, my bil in TX, my mil, my sil, my niece, my husband's cousin and her husband and my son. When I returned from Louisville Sunday, I emailed the rules of induction to two of my son's friends in Louisville. I feel like an evangelist sometimes.

TigH-Glad to hear that your Mom made it through the Yoga and was willing to go a little longer. That was a huge accomplishment on your part and hers. Hopefully, she will realize how much better she feels and will be willing to continue.

It is wonderful when the entire family is trying to live a healthier life as it is not as tempting for the ones that are trying.

Good luck with your continued effort and effect on your family!:D

TigH, that is wonderful news!! You must be so proud of your positive vibes you are sending throughout your family!! Congratulations! :)

TigH, first I'm glad to hear your husband is okay. I think it's great the positive influence you have on your family. Your husband had a really great reason to cheat but didn't. And your mom, what can I say other than that's amazing! I really hope I can get my husband to do as well as your mom! Keep up the good work! I enjoy reading your posts!!

Thanks so much for all your kind words, you guys!!! I am just walking on air these days. :) :) :) :) :) :)

My mother spent her whole life upset that my father didn't "make her happy". It was part of her depression. I am so delighted that she is finally letting it sink in (I've been trying to drill it into her head that WE are responsible for our own happiness, but I couldn't make a dent). So if living with us until they move into their house is working and she is able to learn by my example, then I am really happy! She didn't have the emotional or mental capacity to be a good example for me when I was growing up. I am so happy and thankful that right now I can be a positive example for her.

Instead of exhausting myself emotionally by trying to talk her into being happy, I am just doing what feels good for ME and living my happy life. So now she is getting a taste of that and how good it feels and she is starting on her own path to well being. Even if she never quits smoking, I will just be happy knowing that she is finding her own reasons to live and enjoy life!!!!

But I really hope she likes yoga! ;) hee hee! I need a stretching partner! And it's a good way to reconnect with yourself and nourish that spiritual side too!

DH is feeling great today! No stiffness or achey muscles or seatbelt bruise or anything. He was hit pretty hard and his truck doesn't look good at all. I told him that his happy, positive attitude and feelings of strength and good health are what got him through this accident. We have a date day planned today. I was a teeny bit worried that we'd have to cancel it, but he feels GREAT! We are going to the Kona Cafe for a late lunch (a kind of splurge on our WW, but we planned for it!) Yaaaay! A few years ago this accident would have really bummed him out, but now he knows that his energy would be wasted on those negative feelings and he is just happy to let the insurance take care of things and go have a fun day with me! ;)

HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE! See you tomorrow!!!

Oh YUM, I love the beef teriyaki salad at the Kona. If I didn't eat the salad shell, I wonder how bad it would be on Atkins? Hmmm...off to do research ;)

Have a great Easter and enjoy your date day. You make me smile everyday. I love your positive attitude :)
