Positive at Port?

Apologies if this has been asked.
If one tests positive at Port Canaveral, what happens to one?
Abandoned there with luggage possibly already in board?
Something else?

In short, if one person tests positive the entire travel party is not allowed to board. Travel party is anyone in the same stateroom or who arrived in the same vehicle (if in multiple staterooms).

You're held in a waiting area until test results come back and will see you're either "cleared to sail" or will need to have a "consult". If chosen for a consult they will pull your entire travel party into a private area and inform you of your test results. If you used Disney transport to get there they will take you to the airport, maybe a hotel if you have one.

If you got there on your own, have a back-up plan.

I'm guessing that, even taking Disney transport, a back-up plan is needed.
Going back to the airport when one's flight is not due to leave for quite some time may not be an option, as airlines might deny boarding. Changing flights can be expensive.
So, I'm going to have a few hotel phone numbers ready in case I need to stay at one.
Disney probably won't send me to a non-Disney hotel, so, the airport, than, an Uber/Lyft seems to the hotel seems to be the best one can hope for.

Does Disney refund the cruise fee?

My understanding is DCL will provide transportation either back to the airport or a hotel in the Cocoa Beach/Orlando area. It does not have to be a WDW resort - in fact, to check-in at a WDW resort I believe you must attest to NOT having tested positive for covid, so I don't know they would take you there. Most people going to the airport do so to rent a car. I'm not sure Uber/Lyft is an option with a recent positive test. DCL gives a choice of a full refund of the cruise fare or a credit towards a future cruise. Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover incidentals of quarantining or changing travel plans.

No, contrary to popular belief WDW does not have rooms set aside for Covid quarantine. They will work with guests who develop symptoms and/or test positive while staying there, but nothing specifically planned as quarantine rooms. Last I knew (and I haven't checked the wording lately), you do have to attest that you haven't tested positive or been a close contact in X days when you check-in. Now whether you could arrange something by phone and have another member of your party deal with in-person, they might allow it. But unless you are able to get a DVC villa or at least a family suite, you're basically in a small hotel room without ability to cook meals during your quarantine, unable to use the pool or resort amenities so paying high prices for a bed. Personally, I think there are better options than a WDW resort to hole-up at for quarantine. Some people have found vacation house rental with kitchen and pool, etc. sometimes beach access.

There was a blogger who posted that, and others may have run with it as well. They will work with guests depending on the situation. Nothing guaranteed.

Some cruisers have made alternative arrangements in advance that can be canceled once they board the ship. Others have managed to find arrangements at the last minute after they were denied boarding. I don't know what works best for you; however I would not pay a non-refundable deposit to have a back-up plan.

We were originally on a June sailing following 8 days at WDW. Purchased N95 masks to have at WDW as a precaution pre-cruise. We were one of the cruises canceled, which was a blessing in disguise given the current circumstances. We rebooked for December so no pre-trip to worry about and hopefully the process is different by then because we don't need it.

Definitely don’t fly while positive. I think your suggestion of a hotel is good. An Airbnb type situation might be even better for really isolating but with nice amenities.
