I know that you are not supposed to have a professional photographer do portraits in the parks. However is it allowed to have someone who is not a professional pose and photograph someone for a portrait? I thought it would be fin to have my daughter have some Sr portraits taken on one of the parks but I don't want to get into trouble for doing it. We could always do it at resorts instead. TIA for the advice.

Why not hire Disney Fine Art Photography? They take pictures in the parks and the resorts. They have an hour professional package for $350 and they are taken in the parks or resorts. They also have a min 20 minute session which is just in the resorts only. The resorts include The Poly, Grand Floridian,
The Beach Club, Art of Animation, and Animal Kingdom.

You can also hire Randy Chapman. I heard about him on the Wedding threads. He also takes family pics. Their price is $200 for the resorts and $225 for the parks.

Well honestly because I am not looking to spend that much... She will have portraits back home as well which I will pay about that much for but since we will be at WDW I wanted to also give her the option of having some done there as well. I have a friend who is a photographer though not professional. He just has a nice camera and is a good judge of scene and lighting. If I wasn't getting portraits done here as well that would be a good option. My friend and I could work out an acceptable agreement that wouldn't involve actual cash passing hands (which I suppose technically would make him professional for that instance)

You shouldn't have any issues either at the parks or resorts. The biggest problems you potentially face is if your friends nice camera comes with a truckload of camera gear going into the parks. Having a decent camera with an expensive lens is not unusual for many vacation goers. Also as long as you aren't causing an obstruction to other guests or lingering for an unreasonable length in one spot getting all your photos, it should be fine.

As an aside, I'd personally prefer the resorts for portraits. Firstly, most photographers zoom in and set the camera so as to blur the background and isolate the subject so where you are is less important than what you may think. Also, other guests walking into your shot will be more of a challenge in the parks whereas it's easier to find a quieter spot on the lovely grounds of a resort. But that's just my personal preference.
