Just yesterday I was able to book a portrait session at Epcot during our trip the last week of this month. Most of the threads here on DIS were a bit dated, and a bit lacking in actual experience with Disney photography (mostly about cost and third party alternatives, and not actual experience with this package) so I thought I would post the info I received, and will later repost with my experience and final results.
We booked the Enhanced Portrait Session. We will be meeting the photographer at Epcot's International Gateway and getting photos done in the World Showcase at 9am on a Tuesday (7:45am is the other time offered). The session lasts an hour and we can choose to have pictures taken in three countries of our choice between Canada and Germany (though I think if we really wanted to run all around the world that would be ok - just a big waste of time that would otherwise be spent actually taking pictures). They asked at booking if I had any specific requests (I had one - shots with Spaceship Earth in the background) and said to think on any others and just let the team know when we meet them that morning.
Details of the package:
1 hour session
Website with all photo images
CD with all images and release to print (there was a fee to ship to Canada, so this is getting shipped to my parents in the US, as we see them almost monthly)
Some retouching (not sure how this works, but it's not a big deal - I'm not planning on close up face shots or anything else. We've never needed retouching for other similar photos).
I could have chosen a different park or a resort. We are staying at BCV and Epcot was my first choice.
Cost - $399
Because we are DVC we got a 20% discount, bringing it to $320. DVC members also receive two 6x8 prints.
Only Disney photographers can do sessions in the parks before they open to the public. The other on topic threads have a lot of discussion about third party photographers, and if cost is a concern, folks should definitely read those threads, as it seems some others charge less. I wanted an empty park shoot and frankly can't be bothered one week out to find a third party photographer even if we did want a resort shoot.
We have regularly paid between $150-200 for location family photo shoots lasting about half an hour (I.e. Not posed in a studio, but in a park or a farm, etc.) and THEN another $150-250 for a release of the digital images. So for me, this is a good price. When you factor in that we will have photos in an empty World Showcase, this is a great price. Add on to that my troubles finding a photographer here in Toronto since we moved to the big white north last year, and this was the answer to that struggle as well. A win all around.
