Just yesterday I was able to book a portrait session at Epcot during our trip the last week of this month. Most of the threads here on DIS were a bit dated, and a bit lacking in actual experience with Disney photography (mostly about cost and third party alternatives, and not actual experience with this package) so I thought I would post the info I received, and will later repost with my experience and final results.

We booked the Enhanced Portrait Session. We will be meeting the photographer at Epcot's International Gateway and getting photos done in the World Showcase at 9am on a Tuesday (7:45am is the other time offered). The session lasts an hour and we can choose to have pictures taken in three countries of our choice between Canada and Germany (though I think if we really wanted to run all around the world that would be ok - just a big waste of time that would otherwise be spent actually taking pictures). They asked at booking if I had any specific requests (I had one - shots with Spaceship Earth in the background) and said to think on any others and just let the team know when we meet them that morning.

Details of the package:
1 hour session
Website with all photo images
CD with all images and release to print (there was a fee to ship to Canada, so this is getting shipped to my parents in the US, as we see them almost monthly)
Some retouching (not sure how this works, but it's not a big deal - I'm not planning on close up face shots or anything else. We've never needed retouching for other similar photos).
I could have chosen a different park or a resort. We are staying at BCV and Epcot was my first choice.
Cost - $399

Because we are DVC we got a 20% discount, bringing it to $320. DVC members also receive two 6x8 prints.

Only Disney photographers can do sessions in the parks before they open to the public. The other on topic threads have a lot of discussion about third party photographers, and if cost is a concern, folks should definitely read those threads, as it seems some others charge less. I wanted an empty park shoot and frankly can't be bothered one week out to find a third party photographer even if we did want a resort shoot.

We have regularly paid between $150-200 for location family photo shoots lasting about half an hour (I.e. Not posed in a studio, but in a park or a farm, etc.) and THEN another $150-250 for a release of the digital images. So for me, this is a good price. When you factor in that we will have photos in an empty World Showcase, this is a great price. Add on to that my troubles finding a photographer here in Toronto since we moved to the big white north last year, and this was the answer to that struggle as well. A win all around.

Thank you for sharing this information! I didn't realize you could get park sessions....definitely something to file away for the future. If you don't mind, could you post an update once your session is complete? I've love to hear more about the experience and see some of the photos.

Thanks for the information. Do you have a link to the website or phone number we can call to book this? I also would love an update once you have your session to see how it went.

I did not know this was an option! Thank you for the information, please report back after you've had your session :)

You said you could pick other parks, which ones? I thought Epcot was the only park option.

We've gotten our family portraits taken every 2 years now in Disney. Our first shoot was at the MK in 2006 (which one of the photographers said they don't photograph there any longer- can't confirm that thought), our second at Epcot in 2008, our third studios in 2010, fourth AK in 2103 and last year at our home resort the Wilderness lodge in 2015. Its great to see how much the kids have grown over the years and to have it recorded in Disney! Next year we're going to the Yacht and Beach club. :)

Epcot is the only place we were able to get in prior to opening. All the others were taken during park hours. MK was the only tricky part with not getting ppl in the background in front of the castle. But we were there at rope drop and everyone ran to space mtn or btmrr so there were less ppl. At the studios and AK there were places we could go where people weren't in the background so it seemed like we had the place to ourselves. It was funny though, people would come up to the photographer thinking they were photopass and then would politely have to say, no they hired me.

So worth it!

Good to know that this has changed! As you can see with my response above in prior years it had to be during park hours, Epcot world showcase was the only exception. Have a great portrait session!

We did family portraits at YC/BC our first year, they came out beautifully! I didn't know getting the at a park was an option, I thought when we booked it was just at some resorts.

Thanks for the info.
I love the area around Italy and around UK. I bet I can find a 3rd choice
I may have to plan this for one of our trips here soon.

Thank you so much for your post! I've been thinking about booking the EPCOT session for our upcoming trip in October. Please be sure to post your thoughts on the final results. :thanks:

I think this is the company: http://disneyfineartphotography.com/portraits/index.php
It looks like the $399 allows pictures in Epcot, AK or HS - only MK seems to be excluded - or any resort.
Then there's the "mini" for $180 which is for a much shorter photography time and only available at the resorts and not at any parks.

Yes - that's the site and those are the options listed there. There are two types of sessions. For the Enhanced 1 hour session that we booked I only asked about Epcot, so can't confirm about when you get access to the other parks. I had to talk my mom into doing this (she hates getting her picture taken), so am making this as easy as possible for her - wake up, get dressed, walk 200 yards from BCV into Epcot, smile. ;)

I will absolutely post back in a couple of weeks once we have the session.

I had my maternity photos taken at Epcot in the WS before it opened...it was a LOT of fun! The photos were okay...a couple of great ones (like the one I use as my avatar) and a lot of ok ones. Overall I was very happy with it...the photographer was good at making me feel comfortable...I'm usually the one taking photos so it felt weird being on the other side of the camera...so hopefully your mom has a similar experience and they can make her feel comfortable and help her to have fun with it. Look forward to hearing how it goes for you!

I would love to do this but I can barely get the family to stand still for photopass pics. I am grateful for those! I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you are back.

We have the same company booked for an enchanted session for our Christmas family trip. We chose to have a more holiday theme so they recommended VGF due to the insanely beautiful tree and decorations.

We're extremely excited and can't wait to have these for our XMas photos!!

I did not realize DVC members got a discount on this. I wish my family were more early morning people so we could do an empty park shoot! That would be so fun!

We did the exact same thing at Epcot in April - it was a wonderful experience. I agree with you the price is really reasonable given you get photo retouching and all of the digital files.

Thank You so Much for this information! I have 2 DD's one is graduating from college the other from HS. I wanted to do a photo session for both together. Since they are avid Disney fans this would be great.

Great info thanks!! If you post your update in a new post, please link to it in this one too :)
