Portofino.......upgrades or anything special?!!

We are hoping to stay at PBH for our wedding anniversary (August 09).........should I notify them when I book the room, is there anyone I should fax/e-mail/ write to to enhance our chances of getting a lovely room up-grade or some goodies?!!!

Would love to hear the experiences of anyone who has stayed there for a special event of any kind and what staf have done to make it more special.

I'm a firm believer that if something is important to you to make your event special, than you should arrange it and not leave it to chance. That said, we have been recipients of some great upgrades at the PBH. Specifically when celebrating our 30th anniversary, we were lucky enough to be given club status when we checked in and also received a bottle of sparkling wine and strawberries. Make sure you take in Music of the Night while there.

Hi Debs -- I posted a similar question earlier this week on how to request specific room areas, etc... But,,,,,not a single response. Would be interested to see if you get any additional "bites." (I know in Disney, for example, there are specific fax #s you fax to xxx # of days before your arrival to request certain room requests, etc...)

some new threads don't get answered as many of the regulars have just answered another similar question.
when newbies come to the thread, they don't realize the stickies are very helpful and the older threads that might still be on page 1 or 2, have more details in them.

sorry if you felt overlooked. i don't recall reading your original post earlier this week.

no special fax number, just call the hotel or the tm and have the request listed on your ressie.

doing universal is a snap.
i wish disney would follow suit and do it that way too.

you make the request when you do your ressie, and if you wish, call back 5 days prior to your stay to verify it is on your forms the front desk will have when they pull up your name when you check in

pbh has a lot of rooms.
your chances of an upgrade or specialities for your occasion are more apt to happen there.

why don't you call the hotel directly front desk and tell them you need to know if your request will be granted on the room.

let them know it is for your anniversary and a surprise for your wife.

rooms are assigned usually 3 days out for incoming guests.

if a certain room is still blocked out as they will have carry over guests in it, you can tell the tm's that you would be willing to move from the room you are in to another room when that special room is vacant.
you can go on a list for that. meaning, let them know to pencil you in once that room is open again and letting you have the option of changing rooms at that time.

i did that once. i stayed 3 nights in one room and on the 4th day, the room i wanted opened up. they moved my luggage for me while i was in the park that day. had that room for the night and loved it.
