I'm going to be staying at the Portofino this summer for the first time and I'll be staying in a Portofino suite. The bedroom with two queen beds and a parlor with a pull out sofa.

If anyone has any pictures of this suite, could you please post them? I'm trying to get an idea of what it will look like. All I know is we have a bay view and a balcony. I'm wondering what the bathrooms are going to be like. If they will both have showers in them.

Also..I know they have refrigerators in the rooms. Is it possible to take out what's in the fridge to put your own drinks in there and then put what they had back in there when we leave? We don't want to bring a cooler into the room with us so I was wondering if that would be possible?

Any help would be appreciated! :goodvibes

The suites have a bathroom off the parlor (shower, no tub), while the bedroom would have the full tub/shower (regular room).

You used to be able to empty the minibar fridge for a small fee, but not sure if they put a stop to this? We always grab a styrofoam cooler while at the grocery store on the way ;)

The Portofino suite is made up of either a garden view room or a bay view room. These rooms do not have the separate shower in the bedroom bath. Only the deluxes have the 5 piece baths, and these would be the bedrooms that are attached to the Villa Suite parlor. However, as Bubba's Mom mentioned above, there is a large walk-in shower in the parlor bath.

There is a thread probably a couple of pages back that has pictures of both the Portofino suite and the Villa suite that one of the posters here stayed in.

I also don't think you are allowed to empty the mini bar anymore.

Congrats in securing the promise of a balcony!!! :cool1:  :cool1:
The balconies are very, very sparse at PBH and rarely are you promised one.

the fridge in the portofino suite is pretty small- we had them bring up an empty fridge for us. If it is for medical reasons there is no charge. I have a friend that works at PB and was told there are six portofino suites. Two of them are on the ground floor and four of them are higher up facing the bay also. I was told they have no balconies- only the two on the ground floor have patios and also face the bay. The next step up - the villa suites have the balconies. Hope this helps!

only six? :confused3 I thought that was a suite at the HRH....was pretty sure PBH had more than six? ...or is it only six that have balconies/patios? :confused3

Dsmom, I think the person at PB was confusing the Villa Suites with the Portofino suites. Or perhaps, as Bubba's Mom said above, there are only 6 of the Portofino suites that have balconies or patios. I know there are several with patios, but don't know of any with balconies. That doesn't mean there aren't, just that it is not very well reported. Has anybody stayed in a Portofino suite with a balcony?

There are indeed only 6 Villa Suites. The two in the West Wing have the big balconies that you can actually sit/lounge on. One bedroom of each of the suites has the large covered balcony. They are the top floor of the West Wing with the big balconies that you see when you get off the boat.

There is one right around the corner from the Club lounge, right after the turn, and right after the elevators. The windows face Trattoria and it does not have a balcony.

The one right above the club lounge has the small walk-out balconies.

There are two more right around that area that I believe do not have balconies. Haven't stayed in those, so can't vouch for them.

There are many more Portofino suites and they are not all bay view. They can be either Bay View or Garden View. We had one over Thanksgiving that was on the third floor of the West Wing, no balcony, and looked out over the Beach Pool.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info everyone. Right now I'm trying to find a picture of the patio that connects to the bedroom. I saw one on here in one of the threads but I can't seem to find it right now.

Our villa suite had 4 balconies!!!

We had the other Villa Suite in the West Wing. It had the same covered balcony off the 2 queen bedroom, then a huge double balcony, accessed from the sliders off the living and dining room, and then a big balcony off the king bedroom.

Those 2 Villa Suites are sheer heaven, aren't they?

i guess the only balconies to be had are the Villas & higher suites.... ahhhh....maybe someday

We're going back in a month and I was too afraid to ask for any special upgrades again since we were treated like absolute royalty the last time we were there. Sure would be nice to be comped club though!

Oh, you should ask. Do you have Juanita's e-mail? PM me if you don't. They can only say no.

Just talked to my friend at the PB(she works in the exec. office) She said there are only 6 villa suites and 6 portofino suites. Two of the villas have the balconies and 4 don't. Two of the Portofino suites have patios- one is right next to the boat dock- one is further down but still in the west wing facing the bay. 4 of the portofino suites do not have a balcony and are higher up in the west wing. I am just passing along info given to me- hope this helps.

You're welcome!

If you want the Portofino suite next to the boat dock ask for rooms 3133-3135 and 3137. We were there for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful! It is literally the closest room you can get to the boats. We sat in the parlor at night with the french doors open and watched the bay- it really is beautiful. Hope you have a great trip!
