Hi! We are making a surprise trip to Disneyland for my daughter's 13th birthday... We have previously stayed at the Portofino Inn & Suites, but it has been many years...has anyone stayed there recently and if so what are your thoughts? Some of the trip advisor comments are positive...some not at all...I am really starting to second guess our choice in hotel....any/all feedback is welcome...thanks so much!! please help!!

I stayed here with my DH for our Honeymoon & D23 Expo in 2011. We really liked it. We had a suite that faced DCA and could see fireworks every night. We are thinking of staying here for this years expo. Plus, I have read they just did a refurbishment of the rooms.

My friend stayed there in February. She had nothing good to say about it. She said it was filthy and run down. She even showed me pictures she had taken. It was pretty gross. It sounds like it has really gone down hill in the past few years.

Hi! We stayed at the Portofino in July 2011. Since we were traveling with my dance team, we were able to get a really good deal and that is basically why we chose to stay there. The workers were friendly, the lobby was nice, it was was ok distance, but the rooms? ehh. We honestly don't ask for a lot, we just want to make sure everything is CLEAN! When we walked into our room it was obvious that there really wasn't anything special about the room..which again is okay. When we took off the top spread on the bed and noticed that the sheets underneath were dirty (major turn off). Then we found a hair inside one of the folded clean towels..another turn off. After we contacted the front desk..they fixed everything for us, but it didn't make us completely forget about the findings. If need be($) I would give the hotel another try...it could have just been the housekeeping that day. It really is a cute little hotel...but at the same time making sure things are CLEAN is a top priority!

Thank you for the replies....after much consideration we decided to go with the Candy Cane Inn...even though it was a big difference in total cost, the overall positive reviews/amenities offered at the CCI were a huge impact on our decision. We have also decided that we might try the Portofino Inn at another time later this year when we are at Disneyland for a shorter visit....Looking forward to the moment when my dd finally finds out where we are going!!!
