Portofino Hotel to Harry Potter. Walk?

I will be staying at the Portofino hotel and planning on going to IofA / Harry Potter on Tue the 3rd. Not sure about crowds (although I suspect it will still be packed) but wondering if I should walk from the hotel or take the water taxi, or is there some other better way to get there.
It is my first time going. Also, any quick directions from the entrance to get straight to Olivanders?

If the boat isn't at the docks, we just walk. To go a shorter way, don't follow the path along the waterway but go out the main roadway, cross the street to the Hard Rock and turn right into their parking lot. Follow their parking lot to the very end and you are basically at the entrance to Universal. Keep going towards IOA. Just follow the crowd as everyone is going to WWoHP.

Thanx for the quick reply. Apx. how long is the walk? As we have the benefit of early admission just trying to plan in advance what time I should be at the park gate, what time I should leave the hotel, etc.

From IoA's front gate, go straight ahead through Port of Entry until you get to the central lake. Turn right towards Seuss and bear left at its entrance to the left of Green Eggs and Ham on your left. Follow this "Zax Bypass" along the water until it ends with a footbridge on your left. Go over the bridge into Lost Continent and through until you reach WWoHP at the other end. Ollivander's will be at the far end of Hogsmeade on the right.

I would estimate the walk from Portofino to IoA to be 10-15 minutes, and from front gate to WWoHP about 5.

I would probably leave the hotel by 7:15 at the latest if the parks open at 8. By 8:15 if they open at 9.

Here is a diagram of the walking route either direct to Universal (The first big chequer flag) Islands Of Adventure (The bottom big chequer flag) or to the Water Taxi Dock (The little chequer flag on the right side). My advice is to skip the water Taxi as it often takes longer - use it when you come out the park though to get back to your hotel
