We will be staying at Portofino Bay for the 1st time next week and have several questions. Where is the parking for this hotel? Are there lots close to the rooms? I really hate pulling up front and unloading after a long car ride when the car looks like we have lived in it for about a week. I really would prefer to park, straighten everything out without a bell person standing there waiting for us and get our own things to our room. Do you have to use the bell service or can we just park and take our time?

Depends on where you end up in the lot... but generally speaking, you're best pulling up to the front and unloading if you have a lot of stuff.

If you have handicap plates or sticker after you loop around the parking lot the handicap spots are actually not far from the entrance.

That said, you're not obligated to use the bell person. Just say "thanks, I got this" and he'll back off and you can unload there, leave the family in the lobby, and drive off to self-park.

We never pull up. Just before you get to the hotel the parking lot entry is on your right. Pull in making a sharp right to get your ticket at the gate and go around to the left and down into the parking garage. If you are lucky you can get close to the elevator. Then just haul everything up and follow the sidewalk to the front door.

We did the exact same thing as Damo! We were checking in pretty early in the day so we just walked to check in and were happily surprised to find our room ready so we went back to the car and loaded up for the walk to our room. Self Parking was pretty clearly marked when you arrived so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it! Have a great trip :)

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but do they hold your bags for you if your room isn't ready so you can go on over to the parks? Also, where does the elevator let you out? I mean, is it close to the sidewalk or in the hotel... Thanks!

Yes they hold your bags for you if your room isn't ready. The elevator lets you out right at the sidewalk that you follow directly to the front door.
