Portofino Bay, did I make a mistake?

I just switched the reservation I had at the Royal Pacific (May 30 through June 3rd) at a rate of $119.00/nite APH, for Portofino Bay at a rate of $188.00 because we are hoping for a ground floor patio. I was told Royal Pacific does not have patios and that I may or may not get a patio at the Portofino Bay. A patio is very important to us but now I'm wondering if I may be paying $70.00 a nite more and still no patio. What are my chances?

Call them & beg! (407) 503-1000
Seems like there are quite a few there as I best recall.

I called yesterday to beg for a balcony room, request duly noted. Oh well.
Good Luck!

Don't know if it would help in your particular situation, but it would be a good idea to join the Loews First club - by being a member, there are upgrades and "stuff" you can get. It might influence the reservation?:scratchin

Are you bringing a pet? I was informed by the reservation clerk at US that they try and "keep" the ground floor rooms for pet owners. I had called because my one DD is allergic to animal dander and would not be able to stay in a room that an animal had been in. She told me not to worry and that she would put a request on my reservation for a higher floor due to allergies.

Thanks for the advice all, yes I do have the Loews-First card which I used during my booking. I had no idea about the pet preference, makes tempted to borrow my friends dog, ha ha!

Okay, I'm a total newbie to Universal, so forgive the question. How did you get such a low rate at the Royal Pacific and what is APH?

SeattleMark,

The rates I have are Annual Passholder (APH) Rates. You don't have to have the passes until you check in so if you want to find what kind of rates you can get just go to www.loews-first.com, click on Reservations (at the top of the homepage) then choose the hotel you want to check rates for, when the screen comes up key in your dates and use the code APH you can also try the codes AAA and ENT (Entertainment.com). It's also good to join the Loews-First Rewards. It's free and you will get your membership # instantly so if you book a room you can give them that # for perks such as a gift waiting in your room (wine, beer, nuts, or milk and cookies) also possible to get upgrades.

My best advice is to read these boards. It takes some time but there is a wealth of information!

Good Luck!
