Portofino: 2nd time...last time...never again!

After my DH’s complaint, the Portofino did take $150 off our bill and we were never charged for the canceled luau or the cake. That’s a little over $300 returned.

when i read that in your other post, and you said that's over $300 off, i assumed you meant total cost back.

i see your ticket and siggie at the bottom of your posts.

it looks like you are more of a disney fan than universal.
but it's nice you tried out a different park for a trip.
My family and I actually love both parks which is why we do a split trip, generally 3 days at Universal, with plenty of time to do everything we want and then another 3 sometimes 4 days at Disney, never enough time for everything especially this last time. I guess I should add that info into my siggie, but it would get long. We also love Busch Gardens, both. Seaworld, and for the first time last year Cedar Point and Hershey Park. DD and DH are coaster enthusiasts, me I try:goodvibes

We have stayed at PBH many times--this is a 5 star hotel and have loved it without any problems whatsoever. Please judge for yourself and not base a vacation on others opinions only.

We have also stayed at the Swan and the Dolphin during Hurrican Charlie and have discovered that the staff at those hotels are not as great as usual due to dealing with a Hurricane. They are trying to get guests to safety and prepare for any disaster that might befall. One might possibly consider them rude for yelling at guests to stay inside and barricading doors to not allow guests to leave, but they are dealing with a Hurricane. Even calling guests idiots for trying to sneak pictures of the disaster--that would be us.:rotfl: Were we offended???
No......just more memories of our vacation.

I think that is why we enjoy our vacations at Universal so much. We can roll with the punches and not have to worry about getting the most bang for our buck like at the Motherland.

When you are cold, wet, tired and hungry even small problems begin to look huge. And when you factor in the cost of staying at deluxe resorts and that your vacation is not going as you planned, small problems can seem insurmountable.

Hey macraven I changed my siggie. I'm proud to love Universal and other parks so why not show it. Not planning on returning until 2010 after the construction is done. It broke my heart to see they tore the Enchanted Oak Tavern down. :sad2: We really loved that place.:goodvibes

I guess when it rains it pours!:goodvibes For other guests planning a trip to PBH, not every stay is like the one described which sounds frustrating. We are frequent Orlando visitors and have stayed at all of the deluxe WDW resorts and all three Universal resorts. Our favorite, hands down, is PBH. We have found their service to be surpassed by all of the other resorts we have stayed at. I will say that I have experienced problems with room keys at just about every resort (including WDW). I keep forgetting that the magnetic strip should not be near my cell phone! I have had one billing error at PBH and they were quick to remedy it. Housekeeping (Star Services) has always been quick to respond to our requests. Our family is usually low maintenance and roll with the punches but I admit I would have been much more easily frustrated with these issues going on in the middle of a hurricane!!! Glad the OP still enjoys Universal!

We've stayed at PBH twice. The first time, I couldn't have asked for a better trip. Everything was perfect and we were very impressed with the hotel and the USO resort in general. So back we went a second year, stayed at PBH again. This time, we had some minor problems. I guess I just expected everything to be as perfect as it was the first time, or perhaps it could have been that there was a change in management, who knows. But I left feeling a bit like the OP, even though looking back, the problems were relatively minor and they did try to remedy them. Well, after spending our vacation at Disney this summer, we've already booked our room for next summer at PBH again! There's just something about it that is drawing us back, despite the problems. It is still our favorite resort hotel by far and can't wait to go back again. This time, I'll just relax and roll with the whatever comes our way, good or bad!
