Hi everyone:
I have a question regarding the Portobello Yacht Club in DTD. Our first day at WDW is a half day and we will not be going to any themeparks. We want to go to dinner at DTD (we are staying at POR and want to take advantage of the ferry, etc). We have decided to most likely try Portobello Yacht Club (son has peanut allergy so Wolfgang Pucks is out... and many of the other restaurants are ones we have in the Chicago Area). We have been to WDW a few times but never to DTD. It lists the location as "Pleasure Island". I know I have read about cover charges in Pleasure Island. Is this just to get into the "nightclubs"? I am assuming that for dinner we will not encounter cover charges, etc?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kelly

No charge to get there. When you park---look for the McDonalds at DTD---park by it and then walk to the water. PYC is right next to Fultons (huge boat on water ya can't miss it). Happy dining! I love that place! Go for the rosemary chicken or parm encrusted steak!

You are correct. Admission to PI is free, and you only need to buy a ticket if you want to enter the clubs. You can dine at PYC, without purchasing admission.

I have a question for you though. Why is Wolfgang Pucks out with a peanut allergy? My son has one and we are planning to go there this summer. Your post has me concerned.

Hi CamColt:
In the past Wolfgang Pucks has used peanut oil as an ingredient (and not necessarily in obvious things...I have read about use of it in their pizza sauce, I believe). I have a pretty wide comfort zone with my son (we eat out lots) but have read about many instances with regards to Wolfgang Pucks. We have decided to scratch it from our list.

I am terrible about posting links, but I believe it is mentioned in a thread on this board called about Peanut allergies, and also on a disney thread on the Peanutallergy.com website. If I can figure out how to post the links I will.

**edited to add: thanks to jezebella (sp?) and CamColt for answering my question so quickly

Portobello is wonderful... you'll love your dining experience there and the food is great. Ask for John Combs as your server. He's the best anywhere.
Make sure you allow enough time to take the water taxi from POR. It will be worth it... very pleasant and relaxing boat ride. PYC is at the edge of PI close to the Marketplace, near Fulton's.
Have fun.

Thanks, Kelly! I hadn't heard about that. Thats definitely good to know. Although, I have I have been told pure peanut oil is ok, but I defintiely don't want to try it. ;) My DS will probably stick with plain pasta, but we will be sure to talk to our server and/or the chef ahead of time. :thumbsup2
