Portion sizes in WDW?

I consider our traveling party to be normal, average eaters and we've never gone hungry eating at any Disney restaurant. The reason we don't do the DDP, it's just to much food. Sure, some plates appear to have more food than others but in the end I think they satisfy most patrons. We share entrees, especially at the Le Cellier, we just add an appetizer, like a cup of beer cheese soup each and split a fillet or NY strip and with the bread etc. for us it's more than enough.

By the same token I don't do buffets, I don't get my money's worth.

We do a couple of buffets.... But not to get our money's worth of food. It's solely about the characters. Though I guess the price of admission is to subsidize the umm, "heartier appetites."

We generally eat pretty healthy at home, watch our calories, etc. However, when we are on vacation we like to treat ourselves and eat a good meal. My 155lb husband had no problem eating an appetizer, breadsticks, entree, and dessert at Le Cellier.

You can have your husband order an appetizer or dessert if he needs more. There are also plenty of snacks in the park too.

We generally had counter service for lunch which was plenty big enough and we never needed an afternoon snack.

Great, this is encouraging then! We never order appetizers and dessert is a treat not an everday/every meal thing especially since we'll be eating goodies in the parks during the day. My problem is, I love vegetables. I'd be happy with a plate full of veggies and a tiny piece of chicken or steak.

We'll see how it goes. Like you guys said, there's always bread and I can order a salad if need be.

2 weeks!

Oh, I paid that premium for many, many years as well but at 15yr old and above the "children" have thankfully outgrown those obligations!

Now we just pay it out when we have young visitors, and your are right , you're paying for the whole character experience, understandibly!

The only restaurant I ate at that had an unusually small portion size was Artist Point. It comes with marble potatoes... they are the size of marbles, and I got three of them. I didn't care for them anyway, so I guess that was ok.

All the other places, signature & regular table service was a good portion, not oversized like many chain places.

We generally skip DDP for these reasons, too much food. The girls will generally split an entree or the three of us will share two entrees. Most CS portions are huge and the included desserts are often wasted. It's almost like they are pushing you to overeat! We usually use snack credits for treats to take home. I'd rather skip DDP and not feel compelled to overeat or waste food.
