I am just beginning to compare the various rooms on the Disney Dream. I noticed that there are just a couple of differences between the Deluxe Inside Stateroom and the Standard Inside Stateroom.

One difference is the porthole mirror. The Standard Inside Stateroom has it, but the Deluxe Inside Stateroom does not. What is the porthole mirror? Why would the standard room have it, but not the deluxe room?

Thanks!

We cruised on the Magic in Oct and 1 family in our group sailed in a cat 10, deck 2. Their room had the porthole shaped mirror.

Which ship are you planning to sail on?

I would def recommend the cat 10 over the 11 if there are more than 2 of you. A cat 10 gives you a split bath which means instead of 1 bathroom, you have 2 smaller ones. One has a tub/shower & sink. The other has a toilet and sink. So while dh is on the toilet, ds10 can shower while I brush my teeth (in shower half) all in privacy. Without the split bath, we'd all be waiting for dh to get out of the bathroom.
It's also around 30 sq ft larger on Magic/Wonder. Even more of a difference on the Dream/Fantasy. Those inside standard rooms are only 160 sf vs 204 for deluxe. I think I'd go bazerk with all 4 of us in 160 sft room & would only choose that if that was truly the only way we could afford to cruise at all.

eta: sorry I just noticed you said the Dream. Looking at your family in your sig, I would think you'd be ok with 2 connecting standard rooms. That would give you 2 full baths, 2 tvs, 2 closets, etc.

The Dream inside cabins, both standard and deluxe do not have mirrors. They have the new virtual portholes/ These are flat screen tv's made to look like round portholes, that are connected to cameras with outside views of the ship. As a bonus, the imagineers have added porthole guests. At random times, a random selection of about 30 different Disney characters cross the screen. Stich, and the Up balloon house, and Lightning McQueen, and Goofy and others
