Hi,

I'm a nikon D60 user and I'm a photo baby. I want to get better at my photos but so far this bis what I did while doing the disney college program internship. I hope to use some photos as my portfolio to get a professional internship with Disney as a photographer and I would love some feedback.

Hey Google+ circle mate! How are you processing your photos? On my monitor they are coming in very contrasty with a lot of black. Maybe this is the look you are going for, I'm not sure. I hope that your Disney internship dreams come true!

I would agree, the photos are very contrasty with too much black and overly sharpened. Of course, if that is the look you are going for then you succeeded. Only you know that. In other words, its in the eyes of the photographer.

lol yeah i like doing the HDR effects of my photos but i work with adobe elements and a few photo editing websites like befunky.com also whats your google+ name?

lol yeah ive been playing with the HDR effects with my photos. I like sharpness but I've done research and I know as of now Disney doesn't use this type of effects so I have a normal verson of all my pics without HDR. But thanks 4 the feedback. I was just wondering if I did good as far as rule of thirds and other technical things.

You should look very close into their program before you get too devoted to the idea. If it involves you being a Photopass photographer, then be aware that you will not likely learn a single thing doing that. The settings are already figured out by Disney and they do not look for creativity from the photographers. They are looking for consistency between them. If it is for wedding/event photography then there could be a lot to learn. Check for local opportunities as well because they might be better than Disney.

I like the composition on the first one. The last two I might have cropped some of the dead space on the right. But, of course, who am I to speak, composition isn't my strongpoint. Fortunately, I have a DW who is excellent at it.

Thanks alot for the advice. Yeah I know photopass doesn't involve creativity. I was looking more into their event photography but I'm willing to take what I can to keep my foot in the door. But i will check out the local photo companies as well. Thanks :)

Oh thanks for the feedback :) Yeah I'm stll working on the composition with my photos. I have alot of pictures and I'm photographing almost everyday I just thought these were my best ones as far as disney pictures lol

First, my disclaimer, I am not a professional photographer and have only been shooting a short time myself.

That being said, I think they show a lot of potential but I do think they are over processed (at least for my taste). While the "spicy" look can be fun it isn't my first choice for most photographs.

Would you be willing to post what they looked liked before you altered them?

Yeah of course I will post the originals and thanks for the feedback =)

Honest opinion? Extreme contrast, clipping whites and blacks and over sharpening is not HDR or even HDR like. If you want to be a good photographer, learn what makes for a good exposure and contrast.

Our local community college has a great photography instructor. I started with a basic course, but added the certificate program on to it. Well worth it. There are several other courses, one being about composition. The class goes to our zoo to take photos, then meets in class to critique them. They go back to the zoo a few more times doing the same thing. It's great way to see what others see, and get advice. I would look into such a program in your area.

The other thing that I do is look in magazines like Life, Nat Geo, etc and any other photos I can find. I try to copy those shots when I am out and about, with good results.
