We always fly Buf to TPA or MCO for March break. But with exchange it is crazy. I do think southwest will come down but even still the exchange may not be worth it. Anyhow, I got an email from porter today that they are starting flights DEC 19 th to melbourne Florida non stop. Only a 90 min drive. Anyhow, I booked 4 return for $1660 march 12th to 26 the. Still have to pay baggage and seats. But not worrie .

Seems like a decent price for March Break.

What's the parking situation like nowadays? I've only used Porter for business trips, so price doesn't matter in those situations. But we're looking at going to Myrtle Beach next summer, so I'm looking at all options (even though I'm leaning towards a road trip)

(Edit)
And as I look on the site Myrtle Beach is a seasonal destination and they don't go there in the summer. Too bad.

I actually have a friend who lives on his boat in Toronto Harbor all year round. (I know, weird) Anyhow, we are parking there for the time we are gone. Just giving him the keys in case he has to move it.

I LOVE Porter Airlines. Nearly "Business Class" sized seats. Free Beer and Wine on flights. Way shorter security process at the Island Airport. Airport lounge with free drinks/snacks pre-flight.....

That all being said, this route doesn't really work for my trip plans:
- Saturday only flights.
- FL airport is an hour outside of Orlando
- Price ~ the same as flying direct from YYZ to MCO via AC.

I'm hoping they eventually get the full/proper Island expansion and fly jets out of there direct to MCO. Then you'll see some proper price competition vs. AC & Westjet for Toronto to MCO.

I wasn't finding anything decent fro AC or WJ. The cheaper flights had layovers. I agree with only Saturdays! . But we weren't due until Sunday so we will stay a night on the coast before driving to Orlando. We typically fly into tampa so I prefer smaller airports. As long as they get me there and back in one piece I am happy. Free snacks and drinks, added plus. What do they typically have in the lounge preflight? My kids aren't big breakie eaters and flight is at 9:40 am. Never flown Porter so any advice would be great :)

In the lounge they have free Coffee/Tea, Pop & Juice and a few pre-packaged cookie snacks for free. They also have more substantial food you can pay for (like wraps/sandwiches, salads etc.) Not sure what they have breakfast wise to purchase. But it's overpriced.

Thanks, coffee/juice works great. And I will bring some muffins with me. We can eat when we land.

Still trying to get the wife and kids to sign up for NEXUS. Undoubtedly the best investment one can make if you're flying out of Pearson.

You know, I see flights to cancun so do they fly the prop planes there? Didn't realize they had that much range.

They don't. Hence the whole battle over jets at the island airport. Some time back Porter announced an agreement with Jet Blue allowing Porter to connect into JB service (and vice versa). In this case I believe the connections were all through Boston since JB uses JFK in NY as its Hub and Porter flies in to Newark. Boston is a pretty nice and easy airport to navigate (outside of the construction that is currently happening in the JB terminal).

Yeah I've been to Logan once. Decent airport. Boston's nice as well. Pity they have a garbage baseball team.
