Hello everyone...I have not posted on this specific board and I hope it's ok , but here is where am sure I can get some advise regarding a decision of when to go on holiday !

Thanks to this board we have gone to DLRP and to WDW !!! After reading all the wonderful tip reports I wanted to go again, and after my DH said it was OK..I realized how expensive atkts are at the moment ! I have searched and searched and prices keep going up, so he suggested why not go to SPAIN !!. He said there must be a water park or a them park somewhere !?!?!

I knew I had read about PORTAVENTURA on this board, and I have read all the trip reports written. Since I am originally from Venezuela, I had planned to go there this summer too , but atkts are also expensive. The other night a found a great offer on Lufthansa ( which only lasted a couple of hours...then it disappeared...) of €399 per person !!
That is really cheap ..so I quickly bought 3 atks for my 2 daughter and myself..so for €1095 we are going for 25 days. The only thing is that you have to fly no later than June 30th, so I booked Monday June 28th ( the rest of the dates where not available).

My husband still wants to go to SPAIN, but my greatest doubt is should we go in JUNE ( Sat June 12th to Friday June 19th) or in AUGUST ( during the first two weeks) ? I am aware of the difference in amount of people and the weather...but I am wondering has anyone been to PORTAVENTURA in AUGUST ? How was the weather and the crowds ?

I would love to go in June, but then that makes 2 trips in less than a months, and I feel that it makes the "magic" of the preparation for each trip disappear since there will be so much. For the price that I paid the 3 atkts to Venezuela, we can still afford to go to SPAIN and stay 5 to 7 days....instead of paying €3000 for 3 atkts in August to visit my parents !

I hope I am not too confusing, I just don't know what to decide...my husband has to ask for his vacation next week !:confused3

Any opinions will be appreciated !!:goodvibes

Oh..the difference in € between June and August is about €200 so the cost is not such a deciding factor.

Hi Martina (I have just answer your PM).

I would probably go in June just because it's outside the UK school holidays, and probably much less busy :thumbsup2

we went last year last week july, first week august and it was very hot and very busy. if i had the choice i would go in june. we enjoyed our trip but the queues were really long, over 90 minutes for the bigger rides

Hello Natalie and Joanne...thank you both for your replies. I will take your advise and will try and book for June. Hopefully my DH will be able to get that week off !!

I will call tomorrow to cancel my hotel reservation for WDW...:guilty: ( I had a public discount code that made the rate lower)...since flying to the USA is out of question this year..I even priced DLRP but it's over €1000 and without food...so I will try and get excited for Portaventura:banana:. ( I guess being WDW and DLRP fan it's hard to try somthing new...)

Thanks again four your comments !

We're going at the end of June this year.

I've been twice previously in August 2004 and 2006 and it was crowded and hot. We went to the park in the evening for a few hours to avoid the heat and crowds.

Hopefully it won't be too crowded in June.

We are thinking of going at Easter . Has anyone been at this time of year ?

My 2 are desperate to go to Portadventura.

I have found this site which gives a week in June for all 4 of us (4 adults) with a 7 day park pass at under £900 which i thought was brilliant. That was staying at the Hotel Gold River

They are so many sites though i am not sure if it is 100% ligit.

We may even drive down to Costa Dorada so save on airfare.
