I may have missed this somewhere or maybe it is too soon for this to happen. After the hurricanes in FL last year, FEMA brought in a bunch of portable homes for those that lost their homes. Are there any plans of that happening for some of the evacuees?

On news reports here they showed what looked to be like 100+ empty mobile homes standing in a lot. Nobody can understand why they are not being utilized! :confused3

FEMA is purchasing RV's, and has already purchased 30 from one dealer alone.

The homes also can not be set up until some (not all) but some clean up has taken place. People whose land is covered by debris would have nowhere to put the home. Tent cities are usually erected also and I haven't seen any of them...again, the condition of the land and the fact it is spread out so widely is probably the cause. RV's are now being sent as utilities for hookups and such come back on line.

In Alabama we have several Mobile home manufacturing plants and there have been convoys going south. I am sure these are being aimed at the areas that were not flooded. I also know that they are purchasing RV's/travel trailers (I've got one I'll sell! ;) )

I am sure once the roads are cleared they will start moving them in. You have to remember that even Mississippians are without sewage and running water right now so the area is still really not liveable.
