For us the booster isn't a matter of germs, although that is a bonus, but rather a rowdy toddlers inability to stay seated. My son was like hoodini at a young age and could wiggle right out of the strap. The booster seat has him more secure and there is no room to crawl out. Also, since we use it at home, it's natural for him.
