Portable Fire Pits...allowed all the time or just cerain times of year?

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this is a dead horse, but I did a little searching and didn't come up with a difinitive answer that was recent. Does the Fort allow folks to use covered portable fire pits any time of year, or just months/times where the fire danger is below a certain level?

Our rusty old non-portable fire pit at home is on its last leg and I figured that in looking for a replacement we could look to a portable one that we could bring to the Fort with us in November...of course, IF they're allowed. And I could see us using that in our "regular" camping lives as well.

If there is a fire ban in effect, no fires are allowed except charcoal fires in the grills. Notices will be posted at the comfort stations. Otherwise, covered fire pits are allowed.

Thanks Jim! So, what do you think the chances of a fire ban not being in place in November are?

And, yeah, that's an Aliner - we're loving it! We're still in the honeymoon phase where we'll open it and close it for anyone who will watch, LOL. Can't wait to get to the Fort with it!

If I were you, I'd buy the new fire pit and plan on using it in November. I think they've had plenty of rain this year, and a fire ban would be unlikely. Just my worthless opinion.

We have had plenty of rain this. I don't think there will be a fire ban. Last christmas we were using Portable Fire pits but a disney cop made us put it out. He said only covered pits could be used. Mine looks like that one. But they only said that one night. We used it the rest of the time.

We have always used our covered portable fire pit with Disney's blessing. Even during drought years we've asked for permission and permission was always granted. Tip, we also use the fake logs, less messy and lasts longer with an even fire glow

That's true. But since the pit cannot be open at FW, it serves the purpose. We sit around drinking wine in the evenings. Keeps us warm in Nov-Dec while there as well.

While they're still not approved for cooking, Duraflame has gone to an all-natural ingredients list - which smells a whole heckuva lot better than the old ones. We sometimes use them as starters for real wood...then just toast our marshmallows on the side of the fire that is all wood. I'm sure there's still some exposure to whatever may kill us...but a few times a year doesn't keep me up at night.

When I was there last weekend there were nmotices posted at the comfort stations prohibiting fires due to dry conditions.

Yep, I saw the notices posted at the CS too. I thought it was a bit odd since it hasn't been very dry....
