Portable DVD player at Big Lots- is this a good deAL?

It depends on the brand and features this unit has. $129 is a good price but what does the warranty cover? It is a re-furbished unit or brand new? We just purchased one on tigerdirect and paid $145.00 Canadian dollars for it after the mail in rebate. This unit is a 7" LCD screen that is ten times nicer to watch than my 27" regular tv. It also came with a remote, S-video jack, earphones, and stereo surround sound speakers built in. If you would like to check out the tigerdirect website they are available to US and Canada with their websites. Here are both as I forgot to see where you are from.

Hope this helps................Rob (Snowwhite's DH)

This may not be everyone's experience, but I have had bad luck with electronics purchased at Big Lots. i have had to return two car VHS players purchased there as they both malfunctioned after a week. I also had a bad coffee maker. Just my experience. Keep the receipt.

I just purchased a 7 inch polaroid model with a swivel screen from Bestbuy for 129.00. Doesnt come with the carry case, but does have a 3 hour battery, ac adapter, headphone splitter and remote. It only weighs 2.2 pounds! I saw a case at target for $10.00.

i would avoid electronics at Big Lots . I returned 3 radios that were all broken before i finally just got a refund. I do agree with the poster about Best BUy, as much as i hate their service the portable DVD player i got from there is fantastic

Just wanted to add, I purchased the DVD player online and picked it up instore. While I was at the register waiting to pay, I noticed a stack of flyers that advertised $10.00 off for every $100.00 spent at Bestbuy.com. Since I purchased it online, I asked if I could get the discount, and after a little hemming and hawing, the clerk gave it to me! I got the DVD player for $116.99!!! (original price $149.99) :cheer2:

It never hurts to try Wal Mart. We found a nice no-name there with remote, etc.. for only $89. Works perfectly with a nice screen. Of course DS didn't even use it the entire trip! :headache: Glad we didn't spend more.

For $20 more you can get a player at Circuit City or even best buy and buy the optional extra coverage that allows the stores to take care of warranty repairs and replacements.

Check out both of their websites--I want to say I found something for $149.

Usually those service purchase agreements are wastes of money. I didn't buy one when I had a portable a couple of years ago--but I had one that broke---adn when I got it replaced...that one broke. Luckily both were still within the 30 days.

I don't know if you have bought one or not, but....I just bought a second one for our Disney trip this Friday at Best Buy for $129. It was on sale. It's a 7' screen with a 180 degree rotating base. You can also buy connector for this one to play most gaming systems while in route. It is a Polaroid PDM-0722. We purchased it last night and my kids love it. Now they are fighting over who gets to use the new one Friday. I thought about buying the one Target has on sale. It is a dual 7' screen, both screens can attach to the back of a head rest. The best part about this is the DVD player can play 2 movies at one time. It is on sale for $329. However, since we already had one we opted for the sheapier route and purchase the one from Best Buy.

kmart has a 7" this week for 99 after a $30 rebate- no bag tho
