Portable chairs while waiting on parades

My daughter will be six months pregnant with twins when we are at WDW at Xmas; my question is: There is obviously a wait for the various parades and fireworks in MK and EPCOT, can she bring an umbrella chair to sit while waiting on these shows to take place? If not, what is your suggestion?

I don't think you can bring your own chairs into the park. I saw it on another thread, so you might do a search. There are rocking chairs over by LTT or chairs up on the train station at Main Street. There are a few benches or ledges to sit on around the parade route. For any of these you will have to get them early.

I went with my sister's family to Disney in March...We were all considerably worried about her daughter, who is in her 30's and had (still has) horrific back problems..In face..a few days after we arrived from our trip..she had extensive back surgery.... Earlier, I had either looked at one of those catalogs while on a plane...or looked at their (the airline's) web site..(maybe both) and had found a small fold up stool..(it didn't have a back on it)...It was so small...her husband could attach it to his belt......Unfolding it only took a second....I am trying to remember the cost...I think only $26.00 or $28.00....It was a life saver...and didn't get in the way of other people....In fact...SEVERAL people were asking us where we purchased it and how much.:bounce:

When we were there last December there was a woman with a broken leg. She was using a portable chair to get close to the curb and leaving her wheelchair parked out of the way. The cast member came by and said that stationary chairs were not allowed.

There was a post about this a week or two ago, a cm posted that chairs are not allowed.

I noticed when we were there in May that they removed most of the benches from Town Square and the hub.

People have brought in portable chairs and stool/canes before, but a CM recently posted on the disABILITIES Board that they are no longer allowed to be brought into the parks.
From what I understand it is a security concern (not sure exactly why), and security will confiscate and hold them or have you take them back to your car.
I think her best bet is to get settled early enough to get one of the chairs or benches along the parade route (Scope them out earlier in the day and head over ton one of them about 1.5 to 2 hours before the parade).
Another option would be to rent a wheelchair or ecv for her. Someone 6 months pregnant with twins might not be up to all the walking involved at WDW anyway, so that might make sense to do. Click on the link to the disABILITIES Board in my signature and then go to the disABILTITIES FAQs thread if you want more information.

I would agree with the previous DISer... Rent a wheelchair. I have had to use one on a few occasions over the past 4 years and it really has been a trip-saver when I can't make it through so many days of walking in the parks. There are also special areas for people in wheelchairs to enjoy the parade.

I also cast my vote for the wheelcahair. Six months, twins, and walking parks to much. I would get a wheelchair.

We (AK Main Entrance CMs) recently had to attend a meeting in which we were reminded what is and is not allowed into the parks. Folding chairs/stools are on the list of things that aren't allowed.

As I understand it, the reason behind the policy is safety, not necessarily security. Folding chairs/stools could be a trip hazard, and are more difficult to move should an emergency evacuation be necessary.

We will not confiscate your property, however, we do ask that you take it to Guest Relations, who will hang onto it for the day, and you can claim it when you leave the park, or you have the option to take it back to your car.

I would second (third? fourth?) the recommendation for a wheelchair or ECV.

Syracuse - did you hear anything about why they removed the benches from the Town Square and Hub area at MK?

Was in a motorcycle accident that left me with a broken foot had pins in and a cast on for the trip to WDW didn't stop me one bit rented from an out side company asked for one that can breakdown to fit in the trunk of the car. so I had it every where I whent not just at the parks. The company was Randy's mobility 404-855-6562 they will meat you at your hotel and show you how it worksPaid $200 for a ten day rental this is cheaper then renting at the parks by far. Also a great place to watch the parade from is in front of the icecream parlor on main street if you are looking at the castle it is the last buildind on you right get there early have a cone and sit on the chairs in front we also move them closer to the curbn and had nothing said to us.
