Looking to buy a portable A/C unit. Anybody have a brand/model that they love or hate? If, so, why?

TIA :)

I don't have any suggestions, but I am interested to see the responses.

Also, you may wish to clarify, do you mean the kind you can carry around the parks (those can be found on Amazon, but I haven't tried any of them) or one for the house?

One for the house. I had no idea the other kind existed. :)

We have 3 which we have purchased over a few years. I will say that each successive unit seems to work better - I guess that they just improve them each year.

Which brands/models? Which of yours do you like best?

We bought it for my son's room, even with central air his room never cools enough. We really like it but it isn't"t as portable as the name sounds. It's more you can move it around on the floor but you are limited by how long the vent hose is. We bought ours at Lowes, I would buy it early though they sellout
Good luck!

Brand?

Costco had one, so I checked the reviews of it. They were pretty bad. Lots of talk of leaking water and ruined floors. We use a window unit in our bedroom, but it is a real pain to have to install and remove each year. Too much cold air leaks in if we leave it in during the winter.

I got mine at Target 2 years ago. I have a Haier. You pay for what you get. $89-Water condenses inside by the fan, and I can hear it whipping around when the air conditioner is on. One of the blades were knocking-ticking and my dh tried bending it, so it doesn't make that noise. We needed the air conditioner on a few times in May, and the last 2 weeks have been cold, but now I cannot sleep without all the racket going on.:rotfl:
