Does anyone know if they have porta cribs at AKL? Are they already in the rooms or do you have to make a request? I rented a room for my cousin and her family for a few nights at AKL and one of her kids is 15 mo. Any info appreciated.

They did in 2002, we thought the people that stayed in the room before us left it there. When bell services brought our luggage I tried to give it to him and he said that they are in all rooms. :wave2:

This question was addressed recently on an episode of The Travel Channel with Samantha Brown. She was visiting DL: Grand Californian. Apparently, Disney did a customer survey some time back and now all Disney rooms have a port-a-crib. This was true for our very recent stay at DVC HH.

We just got back from AKL and there was one in our closet. We couldn't convice one of our 10 year olds to use it though!!!

We had to request one two years ago. Nice to see they are putting them in the closets in every room.

In my travel experiences, I've come across 3 different items that the hotel will call a "crib". It may make a difference - a large 15 month old may not sleep well in what I call a "pack-n-play"

We've been given:

1) A "pack-n-play" (that's Graco's name but other companies make them too). It is soft sided and baby sleeps just inches above the floor. There are special sheets for them, but it hotels, we are usually just given a regular sheet and expected to wrap it around the thin mattress. This is what my mother calls a "playpen".

2) A "port-a-crib"
It is like a half-sized crib. Mattresses and sheets vary. They were designed for hotels and baby sleeps at the same height they would in a regular crib.

3) A full sized, standard crib like I have at my house.

I've always thought that Disney only had #1, but they had lots and lots of them so getting one (or two in our case) would not be an issue. I'm seeing reports of some resorts having full-sized cribs, and I'm interested to know what my odds are of being able to fit TWO of them into our room at the Beach Club? If we could have two full sized cribs, we'd all have a better vacation!

We were in AKL during spring break and yes there is one in every room. Check the closet, that's where they put it. My 18months DS refuses to sleep in it, though. The crib is very small and has a very thin padding. We ended up calling the housekeeper and asked for THREE sets of bedrails and my DS sleeps in the reguar bed with all three sides fenced up with the bedrails and he slept soundly every nights we were there.
