Port Upgrade Question--Whole Family Needed?

We're going to trying to upgrade to a verandah cabin at the port, and I know we need to go early! We're staying super close to the port. Is it possible that one of us could go and do this while the others come to the port closer to our PAT? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

In order to do a port upgrade, you have to check in at the port before you head for the supervisor's desk to see about upgrading (if there are rooms available). Not sure if everyone has to actually check in, or if one person is sufficient.
