Just my opinion. Testing is not done when, I go to the store, I go to a restaurant, when I get on a train, and the worse, again, in my opinion, on an airplane. We have to be fully vaccinated to get on a Disney cruise, which, I know doesn't keep the rona off the ship, but everyone is vaccinated. It has been proven over and over again that with all the testing all the cruise lines have been doing, it is impossible to keep the rona off 100%. The key is to be vaccinated and/or have natural immunity. Even the testing is not 100% reliable. I know it is a unpopular opinion, but it is mine, but I am completely in favor of eliminating the testing at the port.

If you're fully vaccinated (or a child), the odds that you'd NEED robust medical services are extraordinarily slim. Like... below flu or foodborne illness slim.

We got used to saying that COVID is much more serious than the flu back when many people were downplaying it, and we were right at the time. But we haven't updated our thinking to reflect the deep vaccination penetration on ships and in the developed world more broadly. COVID is no longer the most serious pathogen that could find its way onto a cruise ship, yet it's the only one we screen for.

with multiple people all around me with omicron, all of them fully vaccinated (4 doses) except for the 4 year old, i can say that in my experience, omicron isn't even as serious as your typical common cold (for the fully vaccinated). It's barely a cold. Sort of cold adjacent but in all of the cases it was over much faster than a cold.
It's completely ridiculous that we do all of this nonsense for the fully vaccinated and small children.
