We will be visiting this city to meet some friends who are coming up from Ft Lauderdale.....

What should we do, where should we go to eat?????

All I know is that Club Med is there. :) Another great vacation destination. DS loves it!

Port St. Lucie is the next town up from where I live. It is a mostly residential community, but there are lots of restaurant choices on US1 which is east of the Turnpike and I-95.

Some of the chain restaurant choices include: Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesdays, Longhorn Steakhouse, TGI Fridays and Applebees. There are some good locally owned restaurants along Port St. Lucie Blvd.

Where are you meeting your friends?

Neither of us have ever been there, so we have no clue where to meet. Do you know if there is a local zoo or aquarium, or some such?

Can you recommend any of those locally known places to me?

Thx.

Hi! I don't know if you have kids along or not but we went to a place called Conchy Joe's Seafood Restaurant:

Address: 3945 NE Indian River Drive
Jensen Beach, Florida 34957

Conchy Joe's Seafood (Jensen Beach; tel. 561/334-1130): Known for fresh seafood and Old Florida hospitality, Conchy Joe's enjoys an excellent reputation that's far bigger than the restaurant itself. Dining is either indoors or on a covered patio overlooking the St. Lucie River.

We ate overlooking the River. The kids had a blast feeding the catfish that come right to the patio.

My brother lives in Port St. Lucie. We usually walk along the beaches or go down to West Palm Beach to look around.

Have fun!

Depending on when you go, this is where the NY Mets do their spring training games.

My mom and I were gonna move to Port St. Lucie in 2000, but I didn't like it....it seemed like a Florida Levittown project to me. There is no public transit, the only big store is a Wal-Mart, the mall nearby has no Disney Store, the local papers are lousy, the only library is a bore, etc. I hear though the town is really expanding. Maybe it'll be better now than it was 2 years ago.
