Hey - I know POFQ was redone back in '05, but I was wondering if POR was done, and when? I tried asking disney on their live chat, but they are no help on anything what-so-ever. I don't even know why I try with them!
The reason I'm asking, is because for the time we are going, there is a $300 difference between POFQ and POR... do you think its worth changing for the extra $300? Thanks for the help everyone!

Someone can correct me on this but I'm positive POR was renovated in 2005. We got one of the renovated rooms but couldn't compare to the old because that was our first year staying there. Last year the food court was down and it didn't effect us as much as we thought. I heard that POFQ is going to be down this year when we head down. I'm hoping the snake like pool isn't closed because my kids want to try it one afternoon.

I thought mods were the same price for the same time periods. Are they different room categories?

The theming of POR appeals to me more, but the resorts are so similar, I would go with the room that is $300 cheaper, assuming the room types are equal.

We are booking though AAA and with them there is no price difference between the two resorts what so ever, unlike on the Disney site. So I'm pretty happy since I really wanted to stay at POFQ over POR because its smaller, and from what I've heard about it, I think we will just enjoy it more.

There shouldn't be a difference in price b/w POR and POFQ unless it is 2 different room types like water view vs. standard view or king bed vs. standard room. Curious as to why it gave you different prices?

we did not stay in POR prior to 2005 but really really love the resort. we will be staying at POFQ this Feb. to see the differences.

They did refurb it awhile ago and it is beautiful. We have stayed there for seven years in a row and it is definatly worth the price. (Which seeing as it is a moderate hotel, isn't much at all.)

I know for our upcoming trip in october AAA has POFQ at $165 a night and POR at $140 per night.:confused3

Have stayed at both POFQ and Riverside several times.........POFQ is much smaller and therefore less walking to the food court/main building but the themed pool at Riverside is much nicer in our opinion. We love them both but we would stay at the one that was cheaper in your case. They connect by a walkway along the "river" so either way you can easily enjoy both.

We stayed at POR two years ago for one night before we began our DVC stay and the landscaping is absolutely gorgeous. We had a king room in one of the mansions (about a five minute walk from the main building). Have not stayed at POFQ, however, I really think it depends what type of theming you're looking for. They are both very nice resorts...however, given the choice I would personally choose POR. A must for us on every visit, however, is an evening or two at the River Roost at POR enjoying Bob Jackson's show. I believe he plays Wed thru Sat there and his show is great for all ages. The place is usually packed......the earlier portion a lot of families with younger kids and then usually after his first break (about 9 or 9:15) it becomes a more adult crowd or families with older kids.

Very interesting. I would choose POR anyway, but the fact that it's cheaper would make it an even easier decision =)

I thought POFQ and POR were located in the same place. I can't understand why they are price differently:confused3

We are staying at POR in March but we had originally booked POFQ. They were exactly the same price. We found out that the pool at POFQ was going to be closed during our stay so that is why we switched resorts. If you want to swim, check the dates for the pool closure (late January through mid March) because POFQ only has one pool. You can use the pools at POR but it is a little walk to get there. I have no idea why the price would be different.

The price difference may be the type of room available. The PO resorts have a standard view and a water view or a room with a king bed which is the same price as the water view.
So it just may be that the POFQ is only showing a waterview room while the POR is showing a standard room.
The price of the rooms for each of the resorts are the same.

The POFQ was refurbished back in 2002/2003. The resort was closed down after 9/11 and then the entire resort was refurbished. It reopened in the spring of 2004. The POR was refurbished more recently.

The DisneyWorld website has rooms availabilities at POFQ,and POR both for $165 per night. So AAA is offering a discount at POR and Rack rate for the POFQ. I guess it does have to do with room availability.
