Port Orleans

We currently have a trip planned at POP from Feb 1-10th. I would like to spend 2 nights at another resort. I originally wanted to stay at Wilderness Lodge but we can't get the AP rate I wanted. I wanted to know if anyone has any comments about Port Orleans? Which one is better French Quarter or Riverside? The reason I am leaning toward these hotels is because I want to do the water mice and the carriage ride. Please help me decide!!!

We stayed in POFQ and we visited my sister at PO Riverside. We liked the size of POFQ. It was smaller but still close enough to Riverside. Both are nice. Have fun.

What is the transportation like at these resorts? Do they each have their own buses or do they share??

I have not stayed at Riverside, but I've stayed at the POFQ...just booked there again. Love the theming, and the size! It's nice to have a short walk from the bus to the room at the end of the day. They share buses with Riverside, though a poster who just got back recently says the resorts didn't share the Magic Kingdom bus. I don't know if this is just for the holiday crowds or a permanent thing. POFQ is the 1st stop. Only downside: I do miss their sit down restaurant, I hope now that tourism to Disney is on the upswing that they'll bring it back! But we usually eat away from the resort anyway, so not a real problem for us.

We loved POR and are staying there in just a few days. I would highly recommend it.

We love both but POFQ is our favorite no doubt about it. We love the small feeling of POFQ and the close proximity of all of the rooms to the main building. POR is much larger and it can be quite a walk to the food court depending on where you are out. It is beautiful and relaxing though. We just like POFQ better. If you want to do the water mice, it is worth the extra time to go over to the Poly or the Contemorary and rent there on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. The Water Mice (Sae Rays) are faster and the area more open. We have rented at the Epcot area resorts and the DD resorts and they just don't go as fast!
