Going to Port Orleans resort in Feb.. Have heard lots of different reviews...... Looking for any thing that would be helpful to make our trip the best...........Thanks

POR resort is a beautiful resort.
There are too sections Alligator Bayou which has a cajun woodsy/swamp feel too it. The rooms are themed with log beds and patchwork comforters and many have trundle beds for that 3rd child. The bldgs are a serious of clusters and it can be a walk to the main bldg but each is very near a bus stop.

The second section is Magnolia Bend four mansions that each have a courtyard area with fountains and beautiful gardens. The rooms are a little fancier. The furniture more like what you would find in a plantation home and comforters with flowers on them.

Both areas have their own quiet pools and all connect via bridges to Ol man island which has the main pool, playground and pool bar. The bridges also connect you to the main bldg where you will find one of the best foodcourts and the wonderful Boatwrights. Dont miss the entertainer in the lounge he will have your who family rolling in laughter.

This is our fave moderate resorts. I love to get up early and walk down to the main bldg for brkst. I see the boats on the river and bunnies on the path, just really enjoy the beautiful landscaping. Hey I even visit just to exercise on their walkways.

Hope this helps. Recently made a resv for some family that is coming for a visit. I had a choice of any of the moderates and chose POR without hesitation.

We have been to POR three times and it'll be our 4th this December.

I agree with Grumpy 92, it's a beautiful resort. It is quite relaxing and quiet. We've only stayed in the Mansion.

The walk in the morning, or at night is pleasant and very restful after a long day at the parks.

We've had dinner in the Main Restraunt and also have had wings/nachocs etc in the lounge. There is entertainment on most nights, but not every night.

The food court was good too.

I know you'll love your stay at this resort.

If you are unhappy with anything, let someone at the front desk know. Disney is very accommodating.

With our first trip, it was the only moderate resort available and living 30 miles from the real New Orleans I was a little reluctant. Also the fact that the restaurants serve "Cajun" food was not too inviting as we ARE Cajun (well DH and kids anyway but hey, I've been married to the man and cooking his dinner for 22 years, I say that makes me honorary!) and would definitely be disappointed if the food was a poor imitation. Boy was I wrong! It was beautiful. The grounds, the room. So peaceful and quiet. We love Ol' Man Island, the main pool area and the quiet pools around each building were perfect for relaxing around at night.

We went to the main restaurant on our second day (again skeptically) and were pleasantly surprised. I'll never get used to Minute Rice but the gumbo was great and the etoufee was excellant. (Not as good as mine you understand.) We even met the chef (who is from Louisiana) who came to our table and he and DH spent 15 minutes trying to find out if they had mutual relatives/friends.

We went back a couple of years later and are going back during Mardi Gras this coming February.

You will not be disappointed! Have a wonderful time, cher!
