Hi all

Well my DH came home tonight and announced he wanted to upgrade from Pop Century to Port Orleans French Quarter. . . not quite sure where he thinks the money is coming from but he's come home with a "blow it" attitude, so yay to whoever upset him at work today!

We absolutely loved FQ last year . . . being an obedient wife I called Virgin before he could think about it too much (have to book with them as have dining plan) and FQ fully booked!! Coronado Springs also fully booked and don't want to go back to Caribbean Beach. So have gone for PO Riverside.

Has anyone else stayed at the two PO resorts, and how do they compare?? I am a bit nervous of the size of POR compared to POFQ - I'm not lazy by any means, but I don't really fancy a ten minute walk at the end of a long day in the parks just to get a coke!!

I'm thrilled to have upgraded and to be trying a new resort, but need someone to reassure me that I will love it as much as FQ!

Also (if I was feeling especially lazy ;) ) is there any area I should request to be nearer to the food court? I have always left location to fate before, but I am feeling the need!!!!

Thanks!:thumbsup2

We've stayed at the POR and loved it! We actually stayed at the Yacht Club recently and made a trip over to the POR, and we prefer the POR.

We stayed in building 18, which is on the Aligator Bayou side, really close to the main building and to a parking lot. We requested a building on that side, close to the main one by fax a few days before we arrived and it obviously worked out well.

Have a look at www.portorleans.org as I found it a very useful website, there's a map so you can see which buildings to request. Also, since the rooms have a fridge, you can stock up on some coke ;)

I haven't stayed at FQ however we stayed at POR and loved it. Its very pretty and the size didn't bother us - it made the resort more peacefull I think. We stayed at building 85 accross the river from the food court and it was near enough to everything for us, though not the closest buildings.

Don't worry, We've been to POR twice and LOVED it. There is a really wonderful atmosphere around the whole resort, so relaxing, beautiful and I would say it really does have an extra something. The food court is great and now I'm writing about it I wish we were going back!
We stayed at the Beach Club a few years ago and tried to get moved to POR, *** IMHO it is the best Disney Hotel . We stayed at both Alligator Bayou, and the Mansions, and loved them both.

I'm stopping at POFQ in Sept and to be honest I had such a tough time choosing between FQ & RS as the reviews for both were fantastic.

I really shouldn't worry - in fact the only problem you will have is the next holiday as you probably won't be able to decide between the two! :rotfl2:

Building 14 is the closest to the main building

POR is one of our favourite resorts too
wish it was part of DVC

We stayed in the Magnolia building - can't remember exactly, but it didn't seem too far away.
