Port Orleans Riverside

Dear Brown Family ::goodvibes

THANK YOU, THANK YOU , THANK YOU for the photo album sharing.
We are now going to stay at POR. :thumbsup2

Gratefully,
another New Englander:surfweb:

POR has been the one resort that we continue to return to every year, even though we have DVC now. We love the "quiet pools," Piano Bob in the lounge, and the general relaxed feel of the resort. We've stayed there every August for part of our trips since 2002.

We have 5 so always stay in AB, which we love. Another plus is the nice walking paths that weave throughout the resort and around the lake. The walk to POFQ is not too far either for some beignets.

Port Orleans is a great resort we stayed there this past Christmas (Christmas 07) and it was very fun. I would defeintely suggest it and I would go back again.

Thank-you everyone for all your knowledge about POR. I don't know if it helped or I'am more confused on what area we want to stay in:confused3. WE stayed there 8 years ago in magnolia and AB sounds and looks great. IS AB more for a family, and MB more just for couples  . If anybody can answer this please DO. Well be there the 1st wk in May and how far ahead should we call and tell them were we want to be? See u all there

My Ds5 & I are staying at MB. The CM I spoke with when I booked my package, told me it was beautiful....this is the part of the trip that's for ME!! We're going ASMo for 4 night prior to this, because that was my son's choice!!

I love the pictures - I just wish people would post some up of views from MB so I can know a little bit of what to expect!!

I really feel bad MommyBuzz909, I know I said I'd get some pictures for you. I'm just having the hardest time finding the ones from our '06 visit. Grrrrr......If I can't find them I'll email my dad and mother-in-law and see if they have pictures since they went with us on that trip. (Yeah for run-on sentences!)

*sigh* I really wish I could find those darned pics. This overpriced paperweight I call a computer crashed last year and I wonder if I lost the pictures then. It would be really odd as I backup everything.

No Worries!!!!

Sea Spray:

Wonderful photos and thanks for thinking of all of us who want to know the details like the prices of food and what you actually get!

Not to get off the thread, but it does not look like you did the meal plan based on your receipt. I saw on your web site you had been to Disney before...have you even done the meal plan and what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks

I was at POR last March. I wanted the AB section and had requested building 18 because with a standard room it looked just about as close as bldg 14 to everything but I thought there would be less noise. When I got there the CM had a room for me in the mansions section, but I had wanted AB because that is the section I researched and knew well. She said that bldg 18 was a smoking bldg and that I had requested non-smoking. I had walked around the resort the night before and I knew there were non-smoking rooms in 18 so I wasn't sure why she said this. I pointed out that I had seen non-smoking rooms in 18 and asked if I could have one of them. Then she said that all of the non-smoking rooms were occupied. She offered me something in bldg. 27 which was next to 18 and as it turned out a 3 minute walk to the main building.

It was a great location for me. I loved AB. The word rustic is used to describe it but I think that might make some think it is not as nice as the mansions. The mansions are lovely and there are those here that prefer them. I personally thought that AB was more lush in its landscaping. It felt more relaxing and intimate to me. I thought that the mansions were more sterile with more sidewalks, stones and concrete fountains in the landscaping.

I felt more confident going back and forth with the CM because of the research I had done. I would recommend going in well informed about all of your options. I don't know if I can mention this publication but I thought that the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World was an immensely valuable resource to researching what bldg I wanted. It had first choice, second choice and bldgs to stay away from because of traffic noise. They have a nice map of the resort also.

I also recommend setting aside time one evening to see Bob Jackson in the lounge. I thought he was better than the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. His show is family oriented and a lot of fun. He is at POR Wed-Sat. I have numerous pictures to post but I don't know how to post them. Can someone tell me, please, how do I post pictures? Thanks.

Here are some photos from our stay in 2006 at POR, It was really fun, we stayed in Magnolia Rm 8590. POR reminded me of staying at camp as a kid.
It really is a beautiful resort. We really enjoyed the main pool.
