I called WDW and got a rate of $94 a night for the first week of June 2002 at Port Orleans Riverside.

I'm thinking about going for a week by myself - a first!

Is it a nice resort? Any suggestions what building/section to stay in which will involve the least walking, closest to bus stop, etc?

Thank you!

I like the resort .The grounds are beautiful with nice walking paths.I have only stayed in the masions and Magnolia terrace is close to the themed swimming pool(it is over a bridge)and a short walk to the food court/Boatwrights and the lounge. You also have a gazebo on one side of the building and the quiet pool on the other. There is also fountains in different areas. The laundry room is by the quiet pool. The people are friendly(most guests and staff)You are also close to downtown disney(my husband was disturbed many nights by people returning at 2am,but I slept through it)The boats are not running to DD and I did miss that but the bus ride was not too long.

Is there a bus to downtown from the resort?

I stayed at PoR twice with my Husband, and twice totally
alone. I was already very familiar with ( Dixie Landings ) and the lay
of the land long before I went by myself. It is such a wonderful
resort. I felt very comfortable by myself, and did the breakfast buffet by myself 3 mornings.

Yes there is a bus to downtown disney directly from the resort. You can get anywhere you want on property using disney transportation,it may involve switching buses(or getting on the monorail or a boat) but you can do it.

Hi Jodi...I did my first solo at POR last May. It is such a beautiful resort..I found it to be so peaceful. I stayed in Alligator Bayou building 18. It is more rustic than the mansions with trees surrounding the buildings. I was near the food court and bus stop, and the quiet pool was right behind my building.

I know you will enjoy POR. I think you will feel very safe on your own. My only disappointment is the boat to DTD is not running at this time. I e-mailed Disney asking if the boat would be up and running this May as I had ressies again. They called me and said it will be a while, attendance has to get better before they bring it back. So I decided to change ressies to CBR. My first time there and solo again, but I know I'll love it.

Have a great time at POR. :)

I call it my "solo resort"-love it! On all 4 of my solo trips I've chosen to stay there (oops, 4 of 5, fifth time they made me move-missed POR so much!). And in each solo trip I've stayed in a different mansion (AB with DH). I agree with previous post-Magnolia Terrace is the best, most centrally located. If you go, sit in the gazebo for a while for me-didn't get to my last trip.
