Port Orleans Riverside Warnings?

Unless you have a parking lot view lol! But I agree, aside from outside door you can’t compare them to a standard motel. But I wish the rooms were set up differently. I’ve stayed at places with outside door, but set up is different, you walk in and bathroom and closet are next to door, then you walk thru to bedroom area with window looking out to the grounds rather than like Disney where window looks out to walkway, and people walking in front of your window, looking in.
At least when the mods had blinds, you could adjust/tilt blinds to let light in but couldn’t see into room casually walking by.
WDW does a great job of hiding the parking lot at a lot of their resorts.
We're different on this:) I think the little entry hallway that deluxes have is a lot of wasted room space. We have stayed at a couple of deluxes where the room felt smaller than a Mod because of the layout. Also, when we had our stroller(s) we did not like the that we had to push the stroller through the room just to park it, where as with a Mod we parked it just inside the door. During the "day" we always have our curtains open to look out, not to mention it brightens up the room a lot. People walking by has never bothered us and that is why we will upgrade our room view to garden at the Mods.

We stayed there almost 2 years ago, and my recollection is that in the mornings the buses at the main depot arrived empty to pick up at that location. And we were packed full, and went straight to whatever park. We're rope droppers so I mean around 8 AM at the bus stop. The rest of the time must have been uneventful, because I don't remember any frustration regarding the bus situation, and we used them exclusively AND we had my 2 year old grandson with us (my daughter is the aunt) so we had a stroller, diaper bag, tiny person, etc. to deal with on the bus. It may be different now, or depending on the time of year.

I must be one of those people who just doesn't remember the bus situation anywhere....I know POR HAS multiple bus stops, but I literally DO NOT remember that part. But I did spend years taking a city bus, so it seems odd when a bus doesn't stop at more than one location. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe it was good bus ju-ju or maybe it was just the time of year, but I remember going around back to the other bus stops maybe twice that week, tops, and only when coming back to the resort. I remember because my daughter was like "Wait . . . there's a BACKside?" :rotfl:

What sort of unsafe situations or dangers are you planning on running into?

I wasn't expecting to run in to anything, I have encountered some vehicle vandalism in the resort parking lots and cars broken in to. Also at Pop Century I have encountered 1st hand some shady folk late at night trying to sell drugs in the stair wells. I was more curious to anyone's encounters at POR. Doesn't sound like they have run across anything, but I'd rather ask the witnesses than make assumptions.

Wow, that a lot. And awful.
I've stayed in Disney resorts A LOT of nights (obscenely many to some, LOL) and never once ran in to anyone behaving illegally. Remind us of where you are staying and when, I want to go opposite, LOL

I’ve stayed at POR solo twice in the last two years and have never had an issue. Both times I also arrived very late at night (near or after midnight) and had to find my room for the first time dragging all my luggage alone and I never felt unsafe in any way. I also did several very early mornings at the parks (before sunrise) and late night returns and again always felt perfectly safe. The first time I stayed in Alligator Bayou which felt a little bit more remote in spots (I was a long walk from the main building) but again, I always felt safe.

Yeah I've never come across any vandalizing or drug deals... yet. Not to say it can't or doesn't happen but WDW parks/resorts are generally very safe. There's so much security. I've never seen syringes or anything like that either.

Plus there's the risk of getting kicked out of your already paid vacation and possibly banned too. I think most petty criminals either can't afford WDW or at least wait to get home before continuing with their life of crime 🤣
