Port Orleans Riverside Suggestions??

I was hoping to get some suggestions from my DIS PEEPS for our upcoming stay.
We are booked for Riverside, Riverview, Royal Room.
I already requested Oak Manor but I saw some pics & I'm like, I want to stay right smack dab in the middle all up close and personal with the water!!
Can a person ask for that when they check in online?
Is that a ridiculous request?
Any room suggestions from my fellow DISers? I am well aware that these are only requests and I am certainly not the type of person who gets huffy if I don't get what I want. I figure, hey, it's worth a try, right?
And I would also LOVE to hear about your stays in the Royal Room!

For most resorts, the best way to make any room requests is to have them added to your reservation. You can call the reservation line and have your request added. Now POR and POFQ are the only resorts that still accept faxed room requests so at about 6-10 days out you can fax them. Here is a very good template to use for your fax.
