I am a CM for Disney and work remote. We used my CM discount through the hub to book a 5th sleeper room at Port orleans riverside. It was confirmed as booked.

Now, when I called today they said I was booked in a room that does not have a 5th sleeper. I have the confirmation email stating 5th sleeper room but their website says otherwise. It changed on us and gave us no reasoning for it.

When I talked to them they guy said he'd "make a not of it on our account" but we aren't garenteed to get a 5th sleeper. What the heck? I have proof that we originally booked that and if we didn't need it, I wouldn't have booked it.

Getting nervous because we NEED it. My daughters boyfriend and daughter are traveling with my husband and I and they are not sleeping together in the same bed. It's not even an option. Even though some people are ok with it, we are just not going to do that. No judgement on anyone who does allow that, it's just not what we choose to do.

The guy on the phone said we could bring a blow up mattress but I didn't think those were allowed? And my daughter does not want to sleep on a blow up mattress! This is why we booked the 5th sleeper.

No 5th sleeper rooms are available at this time. And, we even checked other properties but they didn't have availability either.

What are our options? I'm nervous!!!

I can't help you with your reservation dilemma or predict what may be available when you arrive.... but will offer that air mattresses are often used at WDW and, unless your daughter is very small, may be a more comfortable option. The pull down "5th sleeper" beds are small. Maybe someone who has used an air mattress at POR can offer some insight on how it fits.

Hopefully things will work out so you have enough beds and everyone is comfortable.

Apply your email confirmation number to the reservation in "my plans". If you actually were charged a 5th sleeper it will show up as such. Otherwise you did not pay for a 5th sleeper.

If you have a confirmation for 5th sleeper then at check in I would accept nothing less than a room that accommodates 5. Getting two connecting would certainly be one way to accommodate you. Don’t take no for an answer as long as you have a confirmation showing it but feel you will have to be at front desk to get it.

So, today's explanation was that we received a "room upgrade" but how can it be an upgrade if it doesn't fit the guests we have entered?

The email states 5th sleeper, but I didn't see or receive another email about the upgrade.

They placed us in a royal room, which #1 does not sleep 5 and #2 we have a service dog noted on the reservation. I think someone just messed up and it needs to be corrected. Hoping all works out, but my daughter's boyfriend said he'd happily sleep on an air mattress...so now I need to find out if that's OK.

That UPgrade is no Plus in my book. They are the very furthest rooms from Anything! It was a great marketing ploy to get those rooms booked. Yes, they are nice rooms, esp for kids but the locations are awful.
the 5th sleep is not even made for an adult and that Is written in the description so people know ahead of time. If they saw ur family make up of four adults they just assumed any room would do, that’s wrong but likely their explanation.
You should def print out your original request now along with ur price break down.
sounds like the bf wouldn’t mind the air mattress if that’s even an option for you ( it’s bulky n heavy and ugh… another thing to carry)
Here’s hoping Pixie dust ur way… have a great visit!!

An air mattress is 100% ok to use in the rooms.
The pull down/5th sleeper is not adult sized. You don't mention your DD's age but unless she's 10, it's likely she'd be very uncomfortable in the pull down. An air mattress is a better option

This could be an opportunity. Tell boyfriend he has to sleep with your husband and see how dedicated he is to the cause. If he agrees then pre-approve him as marriage material.

seriously though, hope it all works out for you.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this idea. He would do it too. I don't know if my husband would though so that kind of blows the plan. 🤣🤣🤣.

I think we'll be brining the air mattresses. My daughter has done the 5th sleeper before with no problems. She's 18 and shorter and never "sleeps straight" she didn't mind it last time. We'll bring the air mattress just in case. Now we just need to find one that holds air all night long! 10 nights on an air mattress is true test of skills. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sounds to me like a 5th sleeper won't meet your needs. These rooms are not huge and you have five people needing showers, shave, makeup and privacy.

We put our 14 year old nephew and 17 year old niece in a 5th sleeper with us and it was cramped. I spent most of the time out by the quiet pool until they went to sleep. If I thought Disney rooms were worth the splurge I'd put them in a separate room.

I am a cast member (CM) who gets extremely discounted rates and we really like POR. There are only 4 of us staying in the room. We do have a 5th person joining us, just not staying in our room. The need for the 5th sleeper is because two of the 4 of us don't sleep together (they are boyfriend/girlfriend and won't be sharing a bed) my daughter is shorter and doesn't mind the 5th sleeper bed. And those rooms are tight, so a blow up mattress may be challenging. We'll see what happens.

Maybe get 2 rooms? About 50% of the rooms at POR connect.
We tried 😢 we were told that they are "fully booked" while we are there. But I was also told that they aren't booking at capacity because they just don't have enough staff. I'm sure it's probably less than 1/2 "full" technically. But, I do have my confirmation email printed and ready to go, so if they can't offer the 5th sleeper as I booked, maybe they'll supply a connecting room.

I'm curious about whatever happened on this. I'd like to book Riverside with a 5th sleeper for me, my daughter, my sister, and my niece. Niece sleeps like a monkey swinging on a jungle gym, so she needs her own bed. I'm fine sleeping on the child size sleeper -- I'm 5' and normal weight and sleep in a fetal position. We just really need the 5th surface and, if I book it, I want to make sure we get it.

Thanks for any update or other information!

Technically, Disney can change rooms on anyone anytime. All they guarantee you is A room. Room type, even location, can change. Does it often? No. Vast majority of the time a guest gets the exact room they booked.

We once went to POR as a family of 4 and requested AB (which I assumed would have a 5th sleeper). We didn’t care about the 5th sleeper, I just wanted the AB side, as I had stayed in a mansion before. It was only a request, and we got it met, but it was in a handicapped room, so no 5th sleeper was there. They told us they needed those regular rooms for that size family and it was this or the mansion.

Hmm. It’s a booking category with a higher price. But, I know how things go and there are no guarantees.
