I need to post to see my ticker, LOL but I know we are less than 30 days now.

SO EXCITED

I feel like I have forgotten something:
-Disney "books" that I make for everyone showing fastpass+, dining, air, tips, crosswords, trading pins, poncho, gum, countdown calendar (all are getting tonight at my daughters birthday)
-fastpass+ have all been reserved
-Adr all reserved
-MNSSHP bought
-hotel paid

I still need to do my fax letter but I am not ready to send it yet.

I am sure I am forgetting something....

Hello. Heading to Disney this October for a weeklong vacation and have a Riverside Riverview room booked but we're wondering what's the better choice: Bayou or Mansions?? We're an engaged couple in our early 30s with no kids. We stayed at Magnolia September 2012 bc it seemed to better suit our demographic (no kids) and loved our time there. But the theming looks very interesting at the Bayou and we're wondering if it's worth rolling the dice to see what the Bayou has to offer. Any suggestions are much appreciated!!

You can request mansion or AB side but the only way to guarantee you getting an AB room is to book a preferred room, they are only in the AB section. Booking a Royal room will guarantee being in either Oak Manor or Parterre Place mansions. We like both sections but sort of favor the mansions and we actually like being on the other side of the river. Just something nice about using the bridge and walking over the river, our DD's like crossing the bridges. We have been lucky enough to stay at POR 6 times and have not even thought of reserving a preferred room, we really enjoy the walks around POR.

We've booked a bounce back offer for next August, and I booked at POR garden view. :cool1: We stayed there about 3 years ago in AB section building 39 and loved it. I want to add a request onto our reservation. We would like to be close to both the bridge and the bus stop. Looking at the map in the first post, both buildings 38 and 39 look about the same as far as distance goes. Is there any advantage to either building? Thank you!

Checked in today. We are in love with this place. Pictures don't do it justice. Service has been amazing so far. All our room requests were granted. We are in AB and very pleased. On arrival, our room was spotless and fresh. The kids are thrilled with all there is to do here.

We had a nice dinner at Boatwright's tonight The voodoo chicken was to die for. Hubby loved the shrimp & grits.

My garden grocer order and stroller rental from Kingdom strollers were perfect and right on schedule.

Looking forward to a great week!

Sounds fab, what is the garden grocer I've read before ? Enjoy your week :)

Out of interest, has the menu changed yet? Sometime over the next month or so the menu at Boatwright's is due to be revised. I don't know the details of any food changes, but one of the things which sounded interesting was that they plan to include the Port Orleans backstory in the titles, naming some of the dishes after the various characters in the faux history for example (Amelia Fulton's favourite dessert, that sort of thing).

Hi everyone! DH, DS(will be 6) and I are booked for the first time at POR in Aug 2015! DH, both DS and my parents will be at POFQ in April, too! (We're trying to hit all of the resorts.) Anyway, in Aug, we're traveling with 3 other families who are families of 5, so we're all booked in AB with a PV. I've been thinking that my family should change to a King in AB to free up a room for 5, as I know that's a difficult number to accommodate! What are the chances that we would still be together? We aren't spending every waking moment together because we value our friendships :rotfl2: but we'd like to be close.

I'm reading conflicting information re: laundry - are the machines coin or card operated now? Is it $2.00 for washing and then $2.00 for drying?

Thanks

POFQ is credit card operated only (no money or magic bands), POR is coins only (although there is a change machine available).

We are doing a split stay, 8 nights at CBR followed by 4 nights at POR. This will be our first stay at POR.

My question is, when and how would I submit a room request for POR? I am not a big fan of AB and am hoping for a room in the mansions. Should I make time to go to the resort in person, call, pay to fax from my hotel's business centre?

Or can I make double requests before I check in to CBR, which is 8 nights before?

Call now and make the request (to be placed in a mansion). Based on availability, you might get it. Or book a Royal Room. RR are all in the mansions.

It looked to be the same menu from when I booked the reservation a few months back, sweet-tea brined pork chop, jambalaya, etc. No names or anecdotes included on the menu.

On a completely different note, our mousekeeping thus far has been AMAZING!

We are so impressed with everything so far. My 4-year old asked if this could be our home now.:love:

Have fun! We'll be there soon with our kids--11, 6, and 4. I'd love to hear what yours enjoyed about the resort and any tips you have (when you get a chance!).

How noisy are ground level floors in the RR buildings?
We were in one, and I only heard noise once. That one time was when the jerk in the room next to us was yelling at his family right outside our door. I never heard him yelling at them while he was in the room - which based on his attitude probably happened often. I was very pleased with how quiet the rooms were overall.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. The ground are beautiful. It transports you to a different place. Everything is lush and immaculate.

We weren't impressed with our room in AB though. It was not clean by Disney standards (or mine!). The bedding and sink were fine but the bathroom smelled musty and had a lot of mildew.

We only ate in the Quick Service restaurant a few times but it was always late at night. The lines were terrible and made it impossible to eat together as a family.

Overall our experience there was fairly good but I expected more.

I PMed you directly. Hope it helps!

***For everyone else. We will be enjoying vacation time I have saved up and frequenting the POR/DTD/WL/POLY areas, so meet ups may be possible. From the Oct 4th-11th.
