Here now. Room was ready when we arrived. We must have been pixie dusted for Mothers Day since we got a great room, close to the foot bridge & in the mansions building I requested. We've already taken the boat to DTD, bowled & had lunch at Splitsville & came back & swam in the quiet pool. Exactly how I wanted to spend my MD.

If one opens up during this offer, and I can change the rooms to matching categories, which would be the best to choose to maximize likelihood of connecting rooms close to main bldg?

There's no real difference to be honest. I guess Garden View probably offers slightly more rooms close to the main areas to choose from, but personally I'd leave it as it is and see what they can do for you when you get there.

I'm quite sure that the extra fee only applies to over 18 year olds. Not the 10 to 18 year olds who have to buy an adult Disney ticket

Ah, so you spotted my deliberate test there eh? Ooops.

You are of course correct, the 'extra adult' room charge is only for third/fourth adults 18+ years old, whereas the child rate as far as meals and park tickets is concerned goes up to the child's 10th birthday.

That sounds like a great Mother's Day. Congrats!

Thank you very much Andre!

Yes, you can book through AAA. You can book a room only reservation with a AAA discount yourself direct through Disney. If you want to book a package (room plus tickets or tickets and dining) with a AAA discount, then you must book through a AAA agent. If you do that, you must go through the AAA agent anytime you wish to check on new discounts that might be offered. I'm not sure what the discounts are anymore. It used to vary according to the level of resort with a higher percent discount on the deluxes and the least amount of discount on the values. I don't know if that's still the case. I originally booked my trip coming up as a room only direct with WDW using the AAA discount. I believe it was 15%, but it could have been just 10%. I just can't remember now. I switched over when the Spring general public discounts became available and saved a little more. AAA will give you the WDW confirmation number. You can use that to link your resort reservation to MDE and book your dining reservations and fastpasses.
Thanks so much. It doesn't sound like AAA is a big savings, but thank you for letting me know how this works as to who I contact for booking.
I appreciate it.

We have AAA, and we honestly did all the little things their AAA perks give us. But Now it doesn't pay off to use them. Disney is almost always running some type of special that goes even cheaper, room, parks, Dining or all of the above. So we stopped using the AAA the year I went to my Casting Appointment.

How soon will outdoor movie schedule be posted for POR? I know where to find schedule on portorleands website. But it still only shows May. just curious how early they will post so we know what will be showing on our "no park" days.

Just switched to POR for our stay in August and haven't been able to find the answer to my question anywhere. I know they have recently changed out the fridges in the rooms..do they now have a freezer section in them? Thanks in advance!

Also wanted to know peoples opinions on what I should request as far as room goes. We are doing a garden view room and would like to know what area is best for this. Don't need to be near anything specific. Just would like a nice room that's not too loud!

I think i recently saw on Disboards or Allears somewhere that the new ones do not have a freezer compartment.

Some do, some don't. We had connecting rooms in February and one of ours did and the other room didn't.

1: Yes, it does.

2: Online at home using a computer and the MDE website

3: We always fly to WDW and always go without a car. In fact, that's one of the biggest reasons why we vacation at WDW: so we don't have to have a car and deal with traffic, driving, and car seats.

what is MDE website?

Does anyone have any experience with making special room assignment requests when you are checking in Mid-Week? We are coming in on a Thursday afternoon and I am afraid that we won't be able to get a room close to the foot bridge and on the ground floor as most families come and go on a Saturday or Sunday. We have reserved a Royal Room with a River View. This is the first time we have ever come in mid week. Does anyone have any thoughts to ease my mind?

We will also be arriving on a Thursday. I had not thought about that, but I would think it would be harder to work out requests.

People check in and check out every day of the week. While there may be more turn over on Saturday and Sunday, arriving mid-week won't necessarily make it harder to get your requests. I've checked in on either Thursday or Friday for most of my trips and have always gotten my requests when checking in on those days. The one time I can remember that I didn't get my requests, I checked in on a Sunday.

Hi, my family just returned from a 8 day stay at POR and I just thought I'd give a report since I've been lurking here for about 200 days learning all I could before our trip.
first of all, even after reading these threads for 200 days or so I was suprised to find a charming young english girl standing in front of the resort with our name on it when our bus arrived. She was there to welcome us and hand us our packet on the spot. Very cool.
as far as the room, all faxed requests were met, it was a perfect room in my opinion, royal riverview #9740, corner, second floor great views of garden and river. Never heard a peep from other guests. I never found the time but intended to drag a chair out on the walk way and drink coffee. Maybe next time.
The resort itself was perfect, no complaints. Even the food court during the madhouse times was in no way an issue. They were very efficient and we could always find a table.
Buses, well they are buses. Not perfect but never an issue. We used the south depot departing. Coming back from the parks was even more effiecient since we could use a POFQ bus if we wanted which were always empty and only a 10 min walk or so to Parterre Place which is another reason I wanted that particular building.
I would like to know how booked the resort was for the week of 5/3 - 5/10 as reference. I heard from another guest that they heard the resort was booked. I have no way to know for sure but if it was, that makes the resort all the more impressive.
I had heard that distances could be an issue but it's really not, I though everything was spaced rather nicely.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for the tips and info, I felt like I knew all there was to know before I even arrived.

Re: the freezer, I was in Alligator Bayou and had no freezer compartment. And the fridge had two temps: barely chilly and freezing cold.
