Ok, this is my first stay at POR...and I need a little guidance. Boatwrights, yay or nay? I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on the food. We have a reservation there for the night by we arrive, but I am wondering if I should change it.

We like Bpatwrights for a quiet meal. The space isn't amazing like some other resteraunts experiences but the food is good (though we like their beef tip meal better then the NY Strip), the cast are great, and it is nice not to have to travel somewhere to eat, you can just Enjoy.

Looking at it right now, choices are corner room, ground floor, second floor and near transportation

Alligator Bayou vs. Magnolia Bend will be added to the list soon, but is not there yet.

Seeing we might be shopping and buying extreme heat perishable items ( chocolate, makeup that melts), I need to find out what the cool storage is like. Is it a fridge only for. Small items. Or can I ask that my one suitcase with this stuff be kept in A/c?.

I'd put the items that you need to be kept cool into a separate carrier bag, so they can put them in a fridge for you. They do have decent sized fridges, but not case-sized as far as I know.

Thank you everyone on this thread, especially VenomHatch and Andre for patiently answering questions. I sent my fax in last night and the kids and I are ready for our pre-cruise Disney trip. It seems like such a blessing to be able to go, no amount of rain or heat will deter us from having a fabulous time. Riverside looks so exciting and the kids don't know about the Royal Rooms, so that will be the first surprise of the trip! Thanks again. I'll report back!

Yeah no problem, that is what we are here for!!!

I want to echo that!
We will be sending our fax next Monday for arrival on Aug 1!
Some pixie please!

Does anyone have a ballpark idea of what one night's stay in February 2015 would be right now? I am thinking about going ahead and making my reservation, but I have no clue how much I will have to pay up front. I know that before the prices come out it is one night's stay, but I have no clue how much that is!

I have a question, with the DTD construction how has this impacted the boats from POR to DTD?
On arrival day we have a Fultons ADR and then we would like to go to DQ. I have been reading reports that they have changed docks and that DTD is crazy difficult.

I do not want our first night to be difficult, if it is just a case of a different dock it would be OK. Then what dock is it? I am hoping we can keep this ADR as we have been looking forward to it.

You should be fine getting to the Reservation. I have circled the dock it comes to at the moment with a red circle.

Does anyone know how the test to bypass the front desk at check-in went? Are they going to continue doing that at POR? It would really smooth out some of the timing with our split stay if they do, so I'm crossing my fingers that it went well!

The reports I saw here on the DIS from those who used it were positive. Who knows how the powers at WDW felt it went.

We booked a Royal guest room with River view.....how far will we be from the bus stops and food court. Thank you

This is my favorite and only option I choose when staying at POR. The walk is no more than 5 minutes. It's just over the bridge and the food court is just inside the building and the bus stops are right next to the lobby. I've stayed at the closest and the furthest Royal rooms from food court/bus stop and didn't have a problem walking to and from the food court. It is such a lovely walk too. The river, beautiful bridge and horse carriage going to and fro make it such a delight.

All I can say is anything is better than using the buses. The buses are a nightmare from DTD with the construction in the way. I feel like the boats would be a much better option. That DTD traffic is especially crazy with this construction. I just can't wait until it is finished!

Well I would think the starting $170 price since you are booking so far in advance and it's a slower season then but it may be more. POR does start at $170 a night or so they list on the website!

Thank you so much for the info!!! Trying to plan ADRs and don't want to be late for them!!

I usually give myself 30 to 40 min to get to my ADR if traveling from resort to resort, park to park, resort to DTD etc. It's usually enough time without feeling rushed.

Even for Princess Half week?

Even for Princess Half week?

Oh yes, that is a different story. Rates may be higher that weekend. The only way to know for sure is to call and find out or get on the website and try to book it. the sooner the better because it only gets pricey as the time gets closer.
