Question that is not POR exclusive (but we're staying here)-I will have my sister in my room and we will both be charging but paying separately, can they apply our separate credit cards to our bands? I'll also have 3 rooms I'm booking, so it would prob be best not to do online check in, correct? Thanks!

No reason for you not to do online checkin (just make sure the bookings are linked on your reservations first) but the arrangement of separate payment cards for two guests in the SAME room would have to be done by the front desk I believe, after the initial room payment has been made. This has only recently been reported to be possible though, and I've not tried it myself.

Andre

Good afternoon everyone! Been a lot going on today and just wanted to pop on and make an appearance. Have a Magical Day!

I, for one, would like to know when AREN'T you the busiest CM in town? Kudos to you and Andre for keeping our beloved POR information going. Love this site, thread, resort. Hard to stay elsewhere. Thinking of coming back next fall. Not going to make it this fall, but are doing DCL in March. Woot! Our first DCL. I wonder what renos will be going on next fall?

Hope the storms didn't create too much havoc in the World yesterday!

Have a magical day back at you!:wizard:

We all appreciate what you wonderful CMs do for us, so thank you! And yes, I'd heard about the monorail! Eeek!

It looks like I will have to get a royal river view in order to see the boats go by from our room? It looks like magnolia is past the marina turn?

Pretty much, yes. You'll get some views from the very end of Magnolia Terrace, but nowhere near as good as Oak Manor or Parterre.

What type of royal room should I request if I want to be as close as possible to a bus stop and food? Thanks

Royal River Views, get you as close as possible to the foot path in essence leaving you as close as possible to the main building. There is a foot path between the two Royal Mansions that takes you over to the main building, food, and south depot bus station, "where I prefer to catch buses at."

I will be at POR from Oct 18-25 and we need a room that has reliable internet in the evenings. My daughter is going with us who is in college but can only go if she is able to go on line and do her class work in the evenings. That is one of the stipulation from some of her teachers that she is able to send in and check her homework assignments. Does anyone know how the internet is there?pixiedust:

Its ok I mean you can browse and upload assignments, but I would say you might have issues from time to time trying to stream video. I suggest, if you have the budget, getting a prepaid hotspot or turning the service on a phone to share the connection with your computer or other devices. The WiFi does work for the most part though.

We will be there in August. Not staying in POR but AOA. While we are there we are planning on booking our next trip using BB. We are a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 kids. No one under 3. We wanted to book POR for our next trip because we are a family of 5. We've stayed at AOA for our last 2 trips. We are looking to save money this time by staying at POR. I know that there are certain rooms that offer, room for a party of 5. Is there a certain section that I can ask for that is close to a bus stop and won't be crowded once it gets to that stop and also close to the main building?

The only rooms that can handle 5 where none are under 3 are the Alligator Bayou rooms and all preferred rooms are in AB, which would be the closest to the main building.

Also, by the time you return, CBR may be an option! They're getting some Murphy beds this year too! Also, maybe that will help lessen bookings at POR AB next year so that POR will get the fall FD offer if it's offered again.

I've been hearing terrible things about the buses at POR. Are they really THAT bad? I'm used to the bus service at CSR (which apparently has the best bus service?). I'm planning on requesting a room in the Magnolia section.

Bus service at POR is no better or worse than any other resort. I have never really had a terrible experience. Sometimes there will be a wait, sometimes there will not. If you arrive just after your bus left, you will wait for the next one, if you arrive just before a bus arrives, you have a short wait.

we are planning on August 2015 for our return trip. I'll look into CBR as well. I'm kind of getting scared hearing about the bus service at POR. It's not the waiting but the overcrowding that worries me.

Royal Pool View, as all of those room are located at the end of Oak Manor, with a few in Parterre Place, very near to the bridge over to the main areas, and also near to the East Depot bus stop too. Next best would be River View, which has some of the most perfect rooms of all, but also has some which are a bit of a walk up the river.

Does anyone know how the internet is there?pixiedust:

Internet is generally OK, but not all rooms are equal (depends on how close you are to the nearest wireless access point, and how many other users are connected to the same access point). I've had good luck, including being able to stream live video, on several trips, but you might not always get such a good connection.

Common areas (lobby, poolside, etc) sometimes get faster connections, and doing homework sitting out by the pool bar with a nice Orange Burst smoothie in hand sounds like a very nice option to me. :)

It is a risk, but as has been said that does apply to all resorts (the buses are run by the same people wherever on Disney you stay). I'd suggest avoiding leaving the parks right after fireworks shows though, hang around a bit and let the crowds die down.

That is when I've had the longest wait, and had the most crowded buses, but that has happened at all the resorts that I've stayed at.

Hi everyone. We are trying to decide where to stay for 2 nights, no parks involved, but definitely DTD.

How are the boats to DTD?

Should we stay here or POFQ for closer/ faster boat times?

TIA
