Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Two [Thread now FULL and closed]

Another online check in question (sorry!) We are a family group travelling together with three rooms. Is there somewhere to comment when checking in online to note that we would like the three rooms as close together as possible? Cheers! :)

I'm in Australia so don't really want to call if I can avoid it. The rooms seem linked under the one booking when I log into the disney site, so I'm wondering if that will help too?

If your three rooms are in the same booking, they will almost certainly get flagged up in the routine searches that the room allocation team run daily. However why not send a fax about 5 days before you arrive just to make sure?

We're 65 days from POR. My family has never stayed there and we are SO excited!! My problem is....all my planning is over! I have booked, rebooked and tweaked all of my ADR's, I was able to secure a ressie for the Wishes desert party...so now what? I sit at my computer and think all I can do is wait! LOL! I will at least get to pre register at 60 days out! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We are less than 3 weeks. My husband tells me stop starting at the spreadsheets. You know what you need START PACKING! So officially I will begin today.

That's great. How old is your daughter? My 14 year old son is 5'3" and my 11 year old daughter is 4'6".

We haven't used he new Murphy beds yet, only the trundles from the old rooms, but I would think that your daughter would definitely have no problems. My eight yr old is going to be using the Murphy bed next month and she is 4'6" and I'm sure she will fit just fine. I'm guessing that your son might be pushing the limits and may be a little uncomfortable depending on how he sleeps since he is the same length as the bed.

Does anyone know when POR will have the fridges fully reinstalled? We arrive August 9th for 15 nights and I am absolutely dreading the thought of not having a fridge to keep water cold :(

If it's just for keeping water cold you could do it the old fashioned way. Fill one sink with ice and keep the water there.

Or you could use the ice bucket they provide and keep a couple of bottles cold at a time.

I arrived at POR on Thursday the 18th. When I checked on, I asked if my room had a frig. The CM told me that they are not putting guests into rooms without frigs. That sounded odd to me, since a few days earlier Andre (I think) had said that 50% of the rooms were without frigs. Anyway, my room has a frig. I use it for my insulin but had not requested one because it my insulin does not require refrigeration.

FYI, my DD is staying at POP. She was able to get a frig on request at checkin. Her 13 month old drinks milk every 3 to 4 hours so a frig was very important to them.

I haven't been on the Disboards since I arrived, so forgive me if this was covered in that time.

Nice to hear about not putting guests in rooms without fridges. We arrive 8/20. I called POR yesterday and the CM told me the process of replacing fridges was "coming along nicely". He didn't seem concerned for me but I will call back again closer to check in.

You did not speak to the resort. The CM answers the phone as if they are in the resort, but they are in a Central Call Center. Not all the CM's are well trained.

You could call back today and the CM answering the phone, especially if it is late at night, will not have any idea that fridges are even being replaced, because they are not even on-site.

FYI to all, this central call center is who picks up even if you are calling the front desk button on your resort room. About 18 months ago my then 5 year old was jumping on the bed in Kidani and fell off (not making excuses, but we had a 2 bedroom and I was in the other room, otherwise that kind of crazy is not allowed! :crazy2:), pretty much put her teeth through her lip. :faint: I called the "front desk" for help figuring out how/where to get to an ER as we didn't have a car. After 5 minutes of ums, ahs, and being put on hold, I scooped her up and went to the lobby to just grab a taxi. The front desk was amazingly helpful (could have been that we were bleeding all over their carpet, ha), and quietly admitted to me that the phones always route to that central desk - so if you ever really need something, get on down to the lobby and they will assist. Good info to file away! :thumbsup2

we are checking in on Saturday=-=:cool1::cool1: This is our first stay at POR- riverside. We are DVC'ers and on a split stay with AKV-Kidani.

We usually do breakfast in our villa. Thought we could do the same at POR. I was looking over the food court breakfast menu. Some items look good. Is there any discounts on the purchases from the food court?? TIW, AP, DVC, AAA?? Also is there milk to purchase in a 1/2 gal or 1/4 container at the gift shop? (that is if the refrig is working in the room).

We just started to pack today. We did a trial run with luggage in the back of the van to see which suitcases will work with a larger stroller.

now If I can sleep the next 4.5 nights!:hyper:

thanks in advance!

Hi, I think your situation is unique and maybe no one has experience with it - I would say it certainly doesn't hurt to send a fax if you can get to one. Not sure I would check in online for #2, but would rather negotiate staying put when you get your keys for #1. Hope that helps!

Thanks. I think you are right. I will figure out the fax situation and do that. Only three more weeks!

Hey everbody, this is my first thread post. My family is heading to POR in June 2014. Can't wait!

I've been reading lots of great posts here. Thanks for putting this community together!

As you can see I'm new too. Welcome to the DIS! I have learned so much in my short time here. I can't wait to go back to Disney, not getting there until Jan 2015!

Has anyone hear how close they are to start issuing MagicBands at Port Orleans? We are going the last week in September and are hoping to be able to have them by then.
