7 days!

And now...my MIL broke her ankle and can't put any weight on it. Going with the rent a wheelchair or scooter option. She can't fly with it. She needs to pick it up at arrival from the ME bus in the lobby. Anyone know of some options for this?

The wording of my fax to send Wednesday just got changed.

Also, while we are there, what do we HAVE to have cash for?

We are doing pennies/quarters for pressed coins, and we won't do laundry. Also bringing quarters for tolls and cash for housekeeping tips. We plan on using Disney reward card or magic band for everything we can.

Thanks!

I had knee surgery. Called the airlines they will have wheelchair for me to get to terminal and will pre board me and they ill have one when we land. We called ap
ple scooters and an ECV will be ready and waiting for us upon arrival at POFQ. I never used a scooter and this sucks but its better then CANCELLING. GL

Yes, just go to the Concierge desk and they should be able to do that for you if you give them your airline and ticket details. They will need to look it up on the airline website though, they can't take it from a USB stick or email for example.

Thank you so much, Andre! I so appreciate your advice and all of the great information on this forum! ::yes::

Why mess with a good thing? It looks like my husband made the bed and forgot our comforter, leaves a lot to be desired. Kind of disappointed we booked a Royal Room, as it's going to totally take away from the theming. We could have saved some money. At least we are going to Disney....I know first world problems. Lol.

Haha, exactly! Even though the bed is "made" it still looks messy in those pictures. Like someone else said, it looks as if housekeeping forgot to finish making the bed.

I agree, it takes away from the theming in the Royal Rooms. When I look at those pictures, my eye goes right to the "white" and I don't even notice the royal touches to the room.

I agree also being an active CM with Disney and here on the forums. It just seems like they down played the rooms now. Almost, not quite, backtracking. IMO was the refurb they did now just to give them queen beds and some fancy headboards? Just the two cents from me.

Not looking much better in Magnolia Bend. Probably the least impact so far though, as apart from the bedhead artwork the MB rooms are more lightly themed anyway.

well at least the sheet has a pattern!!! What about POFQ?? Any pictures?? I hope they at least have a pattern? I think AB looks much worse-but I don't really love this either!

Maxiesmom (or anyone else that may know), would you mind sharing the email address you used for your message? I'd love to send them one too ~ maybe there's power in numbers ;)

I'm pretty sure I found it by going to the main Disney web site I use, disneyworld.disney.go.com. There was a contact link on one of the pages.

I must be totally weird, but I kind of like the new bedding. It looks more modern, clean, and crisp to me. It's what I'm used to in other hotels. I really prefer bedding that gets completely laundered between guest, no matter what it looks like. The 1970s material comforters were just too scratchy and stiff.

But other hotels aren't themed to look like antebellum mansions or bayou lodges. White sheets with no bedspreads or plain white duvets don't fit in with the theming. Plus as has been said by several people, sheets with no bedpreads just looks unfinished.

We are arriving in less than 2 weeks now, on the 16th. I requested a fridge but there's no medical reason or anything just have a picky eater and want to keep yogurt, milk and drinks cool-things like that (and my flavored coffee creamer).

Since we're driving, we usually bring a small cooler for the drive but we could bring a bigger one just in case. But has anyone used a cooler for those purposes? If we fill it with ice, will it keep milk and yogurt good? Are the foam ones better or worse than a regular cooler? Also, can you use the refillable mugs for coffee?

Well be there late next week!!!

Are all the rooms like that with the new bedding??? Just out of curiosity....

That's what I've got against it to be honest. If I wanted to stay at the Marriot or some other bland soulless corporate hotel, I would have booked there (probably for a lot less money).

I'm not saying that moving away from the heavy, difficult to wash, bedspreads is wholly a bad idea - but why oh why couldn't they have at least created something similarly themed to replace them, instead of going for boring clinical hospital white?

Andre

I don't know I'm afraid, that's one thing I never thought to measure in the past (sorry!). I've only measured the inside of the fridges. I do know that the enclosure size at POR is for some reason slightly smaller than POFQ (hence the first batches of fridges all had to go to POFQ). It should all be finished by the end of the year, but not likely by the time you get there I'm afraid, will probably still be around 40%.

You can request a fridge of course, but there is no guarantee. You do seem particularly worried about this, is there a medical need for a fridge, as that will be taken into account if you let them know.

Andre

Thanks. My DD11 has a very sensitive stomach. Basically, she vomits very easily. If she gets too hot, is in the car too long (she wears sea bands in the car), sometimes if she eats cold food (milkshake / ice cream) too fast and even if she's just really hungry....and she goes from a little hungry to absolutely starving very quickly. So, if we're all in the room changing / showering and she decides she's hungry, we have no time to hike down to the food court and back. We always keep granola and prepackaged snacks handy, but too much of that kind of "junk" will make her sick too. So, we like to have fresh fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt, etc. for her. A glass of milk will sometimes buy us a little time to get to some "real" food so we like to keep that in the room, too. Milk is necessary for breakfast. She wakes up very hungry and has to have a bowl of cereal or something right away. I guess you could say it's more of a dietary need.

We brought a cooler with wheels last time we drove. We would wheel it out at night and drain off the water and then wheel it over to the ice machine to refill it. It worked great. I would suggest ziplock bags to keep your stuff from sitting in the melted ice water.

Yes, you can use your mug for coffee.

Perfect! Thanks-I never thought about wheels but that would be handy!

Then definitely best to explain it to the resort in advance. Make sure your medical request is noted on your reservation first, and then I'd send the resort a fax 3-5 days before you arrive explaining in a little more detail than you can give to the Reservation Center.

Yes, why does it have to be so "clinical." Seems to me they could find a compromise: How about some colored piping in a pattern across the blanket, or a throw that fits in the middle of the bed that has a design that matches the room theme. It wouldn't have to be much, just something so that the bedding appears to fit. There has to be SOMETHING they could do that would satisfy cleanliness and look at least somewhat in keeping with the theme.

All of the AB rooms (except for the King Bed and Wheelchair Accessible rooms) can sleep five.

Your chances of getting one have nothing to do with when you book though, the only guarantee of getting an AB room is either to have five people in the room, or to book a Preferred Location room. You can request an AB room of course, but other than those two cases it's not guaranteed.

Andre

Thanks. We'll have five in the room. We've stayed in places where there were only a few rooms for five, so you had to book way ahead to get one. Glad to know that isn't the case at POR, especially since it's our most affordable option onsite. We stayed at POR many years ago as a family of three and loved it. :)

I wish they could find a pretty patterned top sheet that washes well. Like a bedspread, but light enough to wash every room change.
If they're going to leave it white, I expect the bedding to be made perfectly with hospital corners!:rotfl:

Hi! We will be checking in a week from Friday! Can't wait!! We are a family of 4 with garden view booked. We won't be checking in until 9:30 p.m. We are hoping for AB building 16 (stayed in it before) so we can be close to buses and main building. Do you think are chances are slim since we will be getting in so late and others may get there requests first? Should we ask for that particular building or just close to buses and main building?

All rooms are assigned 2-3 days before your arrival. So when you actually arrive has very little to do with whether you get your requests met.
