Boy, that sure looks bland without the bedspread. :(

I sent off an e-mail about them taking away the bedspreads. Someone called me back and left a nice message on my phone (which someone erased) and told me they were passing my complaint up the line. She actually seemed interested in my input that the lack of a bedspread made the rooms look plain and like any other hotel chain out there.

I saw a picture it is very boring looking

Not looking much better in Magnolia Bend. Probably the least impact so far though, as apart from the bedhead artwork the MB rooms are more lightly themed anyway.

Why mess with a good thing? It looks like my husband made the bed and forgot our comforter, leaves a lot to be desired. Kind of disappointed we booked a Royal Room, as it's going to totally take away from the theming. We could have saved some money. At least we are going to Disney....I know first world problems. Lol.

Thanks for the alligator Murphy bed photo. Can't wait to see what my DD thinks of it. :)

Is it correct that all the AB rooms are designed for five people, so we shouldn't have any problems securing one in April, if we book in January?

Wait, so there's no bedspreads at all? At first I thought they were saying they were just white, so you mean you only have a sheet? or is it like 2 sheets? Or is the 2nd sheet thicker? I can't really tell from the photos.

Also, does anyone know when they plan to have the whole place up and running again with the refrigerators? I mean, they are planning to do that right? This refrigerator thing is just temporary?

This whole refrigerator situation is quite embarrassing for Disney. I thought it would all be resolved by now. I would think that Disney could move mountains if it wanted to, much less obtain new refrigerators for its rooms.

Regardless, I am no less excited about our stay in less than 2 weeks! :cool1:

So, I have been following this thread and still overwhelmed and completely unsure as to what location to request...we have a Royal Guest River View room booked...are most of these in a good location, or should I request a certain spot...I would rather not hike 15 minutes to fill a cup etc...please any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I was on the room view we page but still didn't really understand.

Maxiesmom (or anyone else that may know), would you mind sharing the email address you used for your message? I'd love to send them one too ~ maybe there's power in numbers ;)

You should look at Andre's site at portorleans.org for the map. I think it is Oak Knoll Manor which is closer to a bridge and the food court. The other royal rooms are in Partierre Place.

I agree, not too exciting. However, if they are washable, and are washed very often with some bleach, well, that is more important than cute and colorful to me.

Some friends of ours went to DL (stayed at a very nice, upscale hotel OP) and suffered a terrible bed-bug fiasco. :scared1:

I'll take bed bug free and bland over colorful and bed-buggy any day!

Good morning, everyone!

Quick question re printing boarding passes. Is there a location at the resort to do this? I know that BP's can be printed if you are checking your luggage for MDE returning to the airport, but I am on a Canadian airline and I believe I need to handle my own bags.

Don't want to think about departure yet, but always like to plan ahead! ;)

Have a magical day!!

At least the pattern in the top sheet in MB rooms adds something...as opposed to the AB just plain white sheet w/ no pattern.. I know neither look very exciting, but I think the intentions behind the removal of the bedspreads were good ones. Perhaps they'll come up with some happy resolution as it seems they are listening to the complaints.

(Again I'm not a fan of the comforters never being washed...so I'd rather just be without...though with perhaps a sheet that's a light color, or with some pattern other than plain white.)

I may get flamed for this, but I think it's due to too many germaphobes. And I agree, it looks like housekeeping forgot to finish making the bed. It just doesn't look inviting.

I seriously doubt that having bedspreads had anything to do with getting bed bugs. And any level of hotel can have a problem with bed bugs.

7 days!

And now...my MIL broke her ankle and can't put any weight on it. Going with the rent a wheelchair or scooter option. She can't fly with it. She needs to pick it up at arrival from the ME bus in the lobby. Anyone know of some options for this?

The wording of my fax to send Wednesday just got changed.

Also, while we are there, what do we HAVE to have cash for?

We are doing pennies/quarters for pressed coins, and we won't do laundry. Also bringing quarters for tolls and cash for housekeeping tips. We plan on using Disney reward card or magic band for everything we can.

Thanks!

It's a sheet, a thin blanket, then another sheet.

I don't understand why they haven't been able to replenish the fridges yet either. The last update (couple weeks ago) said they are expecting more around the end of Nov. The last shipment all went to POFQ because they fit better or something. So, don't know how many or exactly when. We're checking in the 22nd and I'm rrreeeaalllly hoping there is a large shipment in by then! I asked a little further back in the thread about the size of the enclosure, because we've considered bringing our own fridge. I didn't get a response, so I don't know if it was missed or no one knows.

Regarding the bedspreads, it seems like WDW is doing this at other resorts as well. I saw photos of all-white beds at Grand Floridian and also BC or YC. I see that CBR is next for a renovation (queens instead of doubles) early next year, I wonder if they will change that bedding to all-white as well. Seems like a shame to me, it does take away from the room decor and theming, or at least it mutes it more instead of enhancing it.

The CBR bedding has already changed even though the refurb hasn't started yet. It's the plain white bedding but they have a bright throw on the end. I always thought that the bedding (at all resorts) was part of the décor and I liked that they added to the theme of the rooms.

According to Andre's website:

Small fridge (21"x16", no freezer compartment)

All of the AB rooms (except for the King Bed and Wheelchair Accessible rooms) can sleep five.

Your chances of getting one have nothing to do with when you book though, the only guarantee of getting an AB room is either to have five people in the room, or to book a Preferred Location room. You can request an AB room of course, but other than those two cases it's not guaranteed.

I would suggest just asking for what you want (i.e. a room a close as possible to the main building) rather than looking for a particular building. If you really do want to request one over the other, Oak Manor probably has more well-located Garden View rooms than Parterre Place does.

Quick question re printing boarding passes. Is there a location at the resort to do this?

Yes, just go to the Concierge desk and they should be able to do that for you if you give them your airline and ticket details. They will need to look it up on the airline website though, they can't take it from a USB stick or email for example.

I asked a little further back in the thread about the size of the enclosure, because we've considered bringing our own fridge. I didn't get a response, so I don't know if it was missed or no one knows.

I don't know I'm afraid, that's one thing I never thought to measure in the past (sorry!). I've only measured the inside of the fridges. I do know that the enclosure size at POR is for some reason slightly smaller than POFQ (hence the first batches of fridges all had to go to POFQ). It should all be finished by the end of the year, but not likely by the time you get there I'm afraid, will probably still be around 40%.

You can request a fridge of course, but there is no guarantee. You do seem particularly worried about this, is there a medical need for a fridge, as that will be taken into account if you let them know.
