Any info on "Bob" (I think that's his name) who plays in the bar? Times? and Dates? he will be there. We have never seen him before. tia

Are there rooms that allow easy access to the courtyard or "garden" areas? Do you have to follow the walkways around to the front entrance to access them?

There are access pathways all round the buildings, you don't need to go all the way to the front of the building to one point to get out. But by all means put in a request to be close to an access path leading to the courtyard.

Bob Jackson plays in the River Roost Lounge, starting at about 8.30pm Weds-Sat. See www.portorleans.org/recreation.php#Entertainment for more details, or Bob's own site is at www.yehaabob.com

Very nice report. Speaking of TRs I finally got day 3 up on mine. Working on day 4 tonight.

Good evening!

My mom and I are requesting the Magnolia Bend area for our upcoming trip. We'll have a GV room and I requested first floor because Mom would like to walk right out into the garden/courtyard areas. I can't tell how the walkways are set up in the pictures, but it looks like they are pretty heavily planted. Are there rooms that allow easy access to the courtyard or "garden" areas? Do you have to follow the walkways around to the front entrance to access them?

Just trying to figure out how to phrase the request.

She'll be 67 and her knee has been bothering her a bit, so I'd like to keep distances to food and transport fairly reasonable, too. I'm wondering if the two requests will cancel each other out! ;)

Thanks, Venom. My Email room location request was written after getting an idea of how to do it from you so I'm very grateful.

Alex, I'm you mom's age and although my right knee began giving me problems in 2001 I'm still doing well. Proper shoes made a world of difference for me. I did have to sacrifice fashion for function. You do pretty much need to use the walkways to go to the pools or grassy area. Our room was a room just beyond an end corner room but on the second floor (my request) and that was very convenient for us. I would think you want to request easy access to pathway, 1st floor and explain in a FAX sent 5 days prior to your arrival just why you made those requests (for your 67 year old mother with knee problems who would like to save her energy for getting to parks, meals etc.)

Tink20, "Ye Haa Bob" (Jackson) plays in the River Roost Lounge Wed. - Sat. nights. His first show runs from 8:30 to 10:00 pm, then there is a picture break followed by the second part of his show running until 11:45 or so.

Editing to add, as usual, Andre and others were faster and gave more complete info than I!

Thank you!

Kathy, my mom would be horrified if she knew I worried about her stamina. She's not "old", but I know how much walking we'll be doing, all together, so I'd like to help her out a little without her knowing :thumbsup2 Having easy access to the plant life will make her very happy.
Thank you for the guidance :)

Pool towels? Do we need to bring pool/beach towels, or will they have some in the rooms or pool area to use everyday??? Thanks

You are very thoughtful. One sentence in my FAX was: "The reason for this request is that we are 67 & 70 years old and although we don’t have accessibility issues we do wish to conserve as much of our energy as possible to enjoy our full days in the parks." I worded it that way because I didn't want to get placed in a wheelchair accessible room and loose the double sink. I wanted to be clear that was not a concern for us.

There are towels available at the main pool at Ol Man Island. You will need to bring towels from your room or grab a few from the main one to use at the quiet pools.

We watched the Princess and the Frog tonight for our Disney movie night. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I figured we better watch it before we get to POR :goodvibes

So far we've watched Nemo, Dumbo, the first Pirates of the Carribean, and tonight's. Not sure what's up next. Maybe Cinderella since we are doing 1900 Park Fare for one of our ADR's. Or maybe Fun and Fancy Free if I can find a working VHS in the house :happytv:

I LOVE the Strawberry Soup at 1900 Park Fare!!

They have a mixture of Hawaiian songs along with Songs from Lilo and Stitch as well as other Disney Movies. Is that what you were referring to?

Is it automatically programed in every room or do you need to know the channel before you go to enter it?

Pre-programmed, not to be mean lets go back to POR before we get off topic. I don't want us to shoot past 250 Pages with the help of off topic items lol.
