Port Orleans Riverside or Old Key West

Thanks so much for the feedback :thumbsup2
If you liked it enough to go back it must be a great resort
I'm pretty sure that SSR is the one to go for :goodvibes
Have you ever stayed at OKW?

No problem. :)

We were going to try OKW this year but we just enjoyed SSR so much that we're returning for a second visit. After two years on the run, I suspect we'll finally try OKW next year.

I honestly don't think you can go far wrong with either choice- they're both lovely resorts. :goodvibes

I must admit that it was the theme that was slightly putting me off SSR as I just kept thinking 'horses' :confused3

:rotfl:

The 'horsiness' is actually quite minimal! When I think of SSR, a feeling of calm and serenity washes over me. It's upmarket without being stuffy; it's "olde worlde" and stylish. The rooms are amazing: spacious and tastefully decorated. Plus, I don't know if I can ever stay in a room without a kitchenette again! ;)

Thanks so much to all you wonderful DIS peeps :thumbsup2

I am happy to report I have just booked SSR direct with Disney for May 2012 :cool1:

So we now have OKW in October and SSR next May (best of both worlds)

I still want to stay at POR someday but they aren't taking bookings for 2013 yet :rotfl:

so maybe you should stay at OKW again..

oops...so much for my decision for you... :goodvibes

:lmao: Just wondering if you are getting commission ...... ;) At least Linda's October trip is taken care of. Now you have until next May to work on getting her to change resorts ........

Linda I think you made a good decision. Really, since you want the regular DDP anyway, I would definitely have taken the deluxe over POR. :thumbsup2

I've just got to hope that the flights aren't over the top expensive now :scared1:

Thanks for all your help everyone, you are all wonderful :worship:

:goodvibes Congratulations!!

We have just booked up for May 2012 at SSR too!! So excited! Like you I hope flight prices arent too bad too!:thumbsup2

wwell done!!!!! i'm sure you'll be happy...
i visited SSR in June when i went for the DVC tour...i was really impressed by SSR....it looks lovely!!!

as for POR - why not go check it out when you're there in october...
one of my favorite things to do at WDW is go resort hopping - to check out the different theming..
so why not go over to POR to check it out...you can even ask to see a room...if they aren't willing to show you a room, you can wander around and glance into any open doors...also, you can look through the window of the room and basically see the entire room - so you'll get an idea of the rooms from that...at POR, the window is at the front of the room, opening onto the outdoor hallway...so as you walk down the 'hallway' you see into every room through the big picture windown...
lots of people put their towel animals and kids stuffed animals in the window for people to see as they walk by, so it's not really as if you're being a peeping tom..

you little minx-you twisted her arm right round-its on your back if she doesnt like it:rotfl2::cool1:Only kidding.I think for a couple you may be right.Like I said I didnt like the resort BUT didnt have good service and room was damp plus decorators in the building. We stayed in congree park and the view was lovely to DTD but that was all we liked about it. Sorry guys.POR and OKW win hands down for me but then if we all liked the same we wouldnt be able to get in the resorts.:laundy::hug:

as i mentioned, i love OKW and POR, however POR doesn't make sense if she's going for free dining...and SSR will be a change of pace...

but as everyone has said - they were all good choices :)

We stayed at SSR last October and had a good time, we had the DDP. The resort is beautiful and the SPA is great. Not too many dining options though and the counter service is way too small for the size of the resort. The location however is great, we stayed in the Congress Park area and only had a 15 min walk to DTD and all its dining options. I think they have added an extra pool making a total of 3? so you don't always have to use the busy main pool. Take your walking shoes the resort is huge! We had a 1 bed villa for a family of 4 and it worked out fine, we had a fantastic view of DTD and the balloon! along with some amazing October weather! Have a great time whatever you decide!

I think there is a new counter service being constructed as part of the new pool at SSR :)
